Describe in detail the scene outside any one of your windows right at this moment

Right now, I sit here at my kitchen table in the early morning. The sun has not yet risen, so the view outside the windows is dark. I have to walk up close to see more than dark shapes and blue-blackness. There is a tree in the neighbor's yard that is surrounded by a cloud of fog. It looks like something from The Walking Dead and that active part of my imagination waits expectantly for a walker or Rick or Darryl to come striding over toward my house. I stare at it for a few more minutes in nervous anticipation, but as this is real life, nothing happens. The sky lightens slightly in the east. It hasn't changed to the oranges and pinks of sunrise, but has instead become a violet gray color. The sky is overcast and large clouds mask the light even more. I wonder briefly if it will rain again today.

I look to my left and notice that one of my sunflowers has bloomed. The plant is enormous and stands higher than my door frame. Its head hangs down as if the flower was sleeping. Once the sun comes up, I know that it will raise its face toward the glow and warmth and will follow the star throughout the day. It is fascinating to watch a flower follow the sun. We tend to forget that plants are living beings like we are and that they are perhaps more influenced by their environment than we are.

The lights flash on at the neighbor's as their kids wake and start to get ready for school. It's almost time for me to wake my own girls and the peace of my day will break. Though it's tough to leave the bed for these early morning writing sessions, I'm so glad I made the choice to do so. The quiet of the morning intoxicates me. There is just something so special about being present to greet each new day as it dawns. I feel as if I'm here shouting in whispers that I'm ready for whatever life has in store, but first I need to write a few words down.

As a newbie member of the Paper Doll Gang, I was challenged to create a blog. So, here it is. I've never been great at keeping a blog. I've thought about it. I mean I absolutely adore The Bloggess with her hilarious wit. Who knows, maybe some day it will be my turn.

And now, onto the challenge questions:

I found WDC very much by accident. I think I was doing a search for something and saw a link in the story I was reading. Signing up for an account has been one of the best things I've ever done! I love getting and giving reviews. Though, I do have to admit that I worry they'll give me a big head prematurely. My favorite reviews, however, are the ones that knock my ego a bit. They're the ones that tell me that my writing is not perfect and that I have work to do. And then they show me what needs fixed. I just love that! It sounds strange, I know. But, when you think that I'm here to learn to master my craft, then you'll see why these reviews are so invaluable. Don't get me wrong, my ego sometimes needs the 'you're an amazing writer' reviews and I enjoy those too.

My favorite thing about WDC would have to be the classes, though. I love learning, am addicted to it, so any chance I get to learn something new, especially something pertaining to what I want to do, I will jump on it. It was through one of those classes that I was introduced to the Paper Doll Gang. The group seems wonderful and I can't wait to learn to review better. Because I love the in-depth constructive reviews so much, I want to learn to write them. I think one of the coolest jobs in the world would be to get paid to read and write reviews on the works I've read. But, in the meantime, I'll take gift points for them. *Wink*

And that's my story for now. I hope to be back here to write more about my life. I'd like to keep this going, especially with a potential move across the country that has me shivering with both fear and anticipation. I don't know what the right answer is for that decision, so I'm allowing life to direct us to where we need to go. For now, we're along for the ride as we wait to see what path unfolds.
