Well now, yesterday was quite the blur. I wasn't online most of the day. To be honest, I really don't think I was conscious most of the day. Battling a cold, and it's probably more now, and it just takes the energy right out of me.

I will work on staying caught up on things...and try to have everything done by tonight. By everything, I mean Smiling Skies and NON. Hopefully this will just be a small hiccup in the road, as I am not wanting to go to the doctor. It's bad enough that I have a Dr's appointment March 9 for medicine renewal.*Angry* . Nothing personal, just not a fan of Doctors *Rolling*.

Anywho, I thought that I would play catch up with the blog, as I missed yesterday *Blush*. Hate when that happens.

You've gathered a small group of the favorite people in your life together, (Your closest family members and most beloved friends.)
You've finally been able to gather them all together, and treat them to a meal at your favorite restaurant, (The restaurant you've raved about to them for the past many years.)
When you all arrive at the restaurant you're horrified to discover that ... ... ...

That the restaurant has been shut down for remodel. Highly embarrassing to say the least! That is until everyone comes up with the awesome idea to have an at-home buffet with tacos, enchiladas, grilled crunch wraps and fajitas...so a few of us head over to the grocery store, and some others run over to Party City and pick up sombreros and plates, napkins, cutlery, etc. Then of course, some will run over to the party store and pick up margarita mixes! We'll all meet back at my house, and get the party rolling! *PartyHatO* *BalloonY*

Now this might actually happen, as my family is pretty spontaneous. But it would still be embarrassing just the same to find out that the restaurant that I'd been bragging about was shut down *Blush*

Well, looks like I'm on my own for today *Smile*...Marbles is off taking a nap after a grueling month of projects and contests and newsletters...Makes for a long month...hopefully this month will not be quite as challenging....not that I don't welcome a challenge...but it would be nice if I could get my batteries charged *Bigsmile*.

Well, then, until next month (which is tomorrow, by the way....) Have a pleasant evening/day *Bigsmile*

Creation Saturday - Invent a club that you think would be popular, but that you also wouldn't want to participate in.

I am thinking that a Wine Tasting Club might be interesting. As a group we could visit different wine making facilities or any Wine Tasting events that were around. We could have people speak about different styles of wines and what you would pair with the different types of wines, such as meats, appetizers, desserts, etc...
Now I know that there are such clubs, But I am not so sure there are any here where I live, in Texas.
LOL...might have to change wine to microbreweries...and the different beers offered.
That being said, I'm not much of a wine or beer drinker, so while it might be popular, it's not something that I'd want to do.

And there you have it, boys and girls...Happy Finished January!

Fun Fact Friday!

On this day in 1996, Garth Brooks refused to accept his American Music Award for Favorite Overall Artist, saying that Hootie And The Blowfish had done more for music that year than he did. Have you ever, or would you consider, turning down an award of any sort because you insisted someone else was more deserving?

Wow, my opinion of Garth Brooks has elevated a bit. It is nice to hear about something like that. I'm sure the AMA was probably a bit ticked, but so what? That being said, it seems reasonable to assume their choice was based on something, whether the popularity, or whatever...but for an artist to decline a major award...this is something you don't hear a lot of...LOL...and since it was 20 yrs ago, my guess is that it hasn't happened again.

Anyway, with the Quill Awards coming up, which I am guessing is the big deal here on WdC...I have been nominated a few times. It is flattering, considering I've only been really active since Oct 2015 (I started out Sept 4, so I count that time as getting my "feet wet"). I am sure there are more qualified candidates, but nevertheless, the nomination is something to be proud of *Smile*. It is not my expectation to win, as I've had so little time on the site...LOL. I guess we will have to wait and see. (And there are WAY more qualified candidates out there!) I just like what I am doing, and like doing it A LOT! This site is one of the best things that has happened to me in quite a long time, and I'm thrilled to be a part of it - award or no....

The Wildcard Round! This week's winner from all eligible entries will receive 5000 GPs. From the War Chest...

Describe the last time you were moved to tears by something beautiful.

OMG...I guess I am a bit cynical here. I guess the times that move me to tears are when I got to hold my grandchildren for the first time. Before that would be hearing the heartbeats of my children while pregnant and of course, the birth of my children. There is a bond that is so special, that nothing else matters.

This is my humble opinion. I wasn't there for hearing the heartbeats of my grandchildren or for their births, but getting to hold them for the first time was truly a wondrous thing for me.

War Chest Wednesday! From the War Chest...

Are you an optimist, pessimist or realist? Explain why you think so. Do you think your friends and/or family would agree or disagree with you?

I would say as a rule that I am an optimist. I have always looked for the good in things and people. I try to keep the glass 1/2 full rather than 1/2 empty outlook. Some would say (and I include my family in this statement) that I am a bit naive. There have been times that I've been burned for my optimism, but I fight against becoming cynical...(except in politics...but don't get me started there! *FacePalm* )

I've just always have been an upbeat person, even as a little girl. I like being positive. I've known so many people that aren't happy unless they are UNHAPPY...to me that's no way to live. I don't understand the mentality that goes with such a person.

So there you have it. Me: in a nutshell (could be that I'm just "nuts" *Squirrel*) *Rolling*

New Year's Memory for "The Challenge"

I really don't have a favorite New Year's memory. I enjoyed watching When Harry Met Sally, and it ended on a New Year's Theme...The story where they "live somewhat happily ever after" LOL.

I remember thinking that this New Year (2016) marks a milestone for me. I'll be 50 *Shock2* this year, and starting college. March 4 will be the end of my "newbie" status with Writing.Com and I've really got a lot going on there...There is a possibility of getting engaged before the end of this year...(waiting and seeing...*Ring1*). I've even gone so far as to write up a list of things I would like to accomplish this year with my WdC account

Talk Tuesday!

Pick three of your fellow challengers this month, and come up with a word, phrase, or saying you think they would wear on a t-shirt based on what you've read of theirs so far.

Sorry so late with the prompt...internet troubles! Acck!!! Really starting to hate SuddenLink *Headbang*

Anyways....

T-shirt Tuesday today...Love it!

Cinn....I think I would this phrase would be appropriate:

LEAD, FOLLOW, OR GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!

Yeah, that sounds about right. *Bigsmile*! One of the first people I met on the site, and very encouraging. The reviews sometimes deflate me a bit, but I LOVE the honest feedback, and the way that I am encouraged to be a better writer. A no-nonsense person, and very "down to earth". Very much appreciated! (PS...LOVE TYE DYE as well...*Rolling*

The next one, I would say is our own lovely ANN:
This phrase comes to mind:

ROCKY ROAD IS BETTER AS ICE CREAM!!

I like this for her. Reading over her blogs and some of her stories...she has come a LONG WAY BABY!! and not without her share (or more than her share) of rocky roads. She is a classy lady, and is a wonderful example of grace. I receive encouragement from her, as most everyone on the site does, I believe. Here's to you ANN!! Keep on Keeping ON...and make sure you have lots of spoons for the ice cream *Bigsmile*

Last, but certainly not least would be FRAN:

CRAZY IS MY KIND OF NORMAL!!!

When I first met Fran, she was going around like a mini-whirlwind getting one hell of a Forum/Contest/Well Wishing page together for the Story Family when they were first beset with some very serious news about Phoebe. Fran has more energy and fortitude in her than a dozen people (It also helps that she is a glutton for punishment *Rolling*). Keep on going Franny! Gotcher back *Bigsmile*

Mouth Watering Monday!

You're attending a Pot Luck lunch (or dinner)...what dish are you bringing to share with everyone?

One dish that I could share is Baked Ziti. It is an easy pasta dish and is very popular.

The recipe follows:
Ingredients
1 pound dry ziti pasta
1 onion, chopped
1 pound lean ground beef
2 (26 ounce) jars spaghetti sauce
6 ounces provolone cheese, sliced
1 1/2 cups sour cream
6 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Step-by-step View
Directions
1.
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add ziti pasta, and cook until al dente, about 8 minutes; drain.
2.
In a large skillet, brown onion and ground beef over medium heat. Add spaghetti sauce, and simmer 15 minutes.
3.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Butter a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer as follows: 1/2 of the ziti, Provolone cheese, sour cream, 1/2 sauce mixture, remaining ziti, mozzarella cheese and remaining sauce mixture. Top with grated Parmesan cheese.
4.
Bake for 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until cheeses are melted.

Of course, you made add different cheeses, depending on your taste, or more cheese, if you prefer.
