| I don't get Carrot. Even after all this time. On the surface he's this really nice, honest kind of guy. And then you scratch the surface and he's still a nice, honest guy. So you scratch a little deeper and there he is, nice and honest. So now you're digging right down, aiming for the bedrock of his soul. No-one is that nice or honest, certainly no-one is that humble or genial. I've been living with him for two years now and working with him for twice that, and I'm still digging. Every time I think I've come to a vein of sarcasm or perhaps a lode of bitterness, he gives that shrug - the one where his enormous shoulder undulate - and flashes me that self-depreciating smile, and I know I've hit nice and honest again. I love Carrot. Or at least I think I do. Does it matter if I don't? I know I'll always run to him and I'll always run after him if necessary. I just wish I could find just the smallest streak of selfishness in him. Just to make him more human. Word count: 187 Prompt: Write from the PoV of a character from fiction.
