I just wanted to thank everyone for taking time to share and read my stories and urban musings. As I said above, this is a raw conversational urban blog. It's for fun and entertainment. Some of the stories will become part of my books, and I pay editors to smooth them out. I write a lot of the stories as I post them. I want to be conversational and casual. I do appreciate you all. I look forward to creating, the story, 747 Baker street, I was telling you about. If you have any ideas, or trivia, let me know. I have changed some of the characters names, to make it a little diffrent. You can leave a comment, and maybe I'll read your stories, too!!
(p.s. if you see a little "i', where it should be capitol, in my text it is because of nutjob hacker/stalker, I always go back and check-thanks!)

Hi! Had a little technical difficulties, I'll start a new story in a few, days. In the mean time, read, "Romantic Vacation For A Tired Man". You just type it in the search box.

Take care-rixxie
Hi!! Did you read, Romantic Vacation for a Tired Man? Ha-ha-ha-ha! I enjoyed writing that story a lot. You can also check out , my stories-Evette Got Happy and Ask Patti. I was watching the old, Good Times series starring, Jimmie Walker, from the 1970's. I like the laughs, it got a lot of bad reviews for being, "Too Ghetto". It covered a lot of hot topics, between the laughs, health care for poor poor Black folks and drug abuse, you name it.

I was real into the series. Can anybody tell me what happened to Florida Evans' second husband, Carl/ She went away with him to Arizona, shortly after marrying him, and about a year and a half after her first husbands' death. They didn't mention it in the script. I was really into it. I'm working on a similiar story, just for my readers, not to publish though. It's called; 749 Bankard street. My story is loosely inspired by that and other shows and books of the that time period. My story is a diffrent plot and the characters have diffrent names. If you recall, 743 Baker street , is the address, they moved to in the last episode. Kieth, Thelmas' new husband, was picked up by the Chicago Bulls' as a free agent. Jimmie Walker-J.J., was hired to draw a new comic strip, and little Michael went off to college. You Remember little Janet Jackson, as Penny. Her playmates, were little Kim Fields, and little Gary Coleman. It's funny how you can trace history through, t.v. shows-they call it "trivia". I love it! I love guessing little facts. I'll start the story tomorrow, be good don't take any wooden binkies!

Take care-see ya' rixxie
( Readers if I spell a characters name wrong, or get a fact wrong about a stroy: i.e."It wasn't J.J. that took the bike it was Michael".Please let me know!! Much love-rix

I had fun writing that last story, I didn't know if Renard was going to get together with Charlotte or not. I threw her buying his uncles' house in at the last minute. In the next section, I'm going discuss some of my favorite tvv, shows and the cultural history behind them. Some like to call, "trivia", I love trivia games. Old episodes of the show, Good Times, has been running lately. What show was, the mother, "Florida", Ester Rolle on prior to that show? Watch Cleopatra Jones, that Black movie from the 1970s'. See if you can trace the career, of the little blacks kids, either one of them, that were watching her sports car. On the show, What's happening ? The actor, who played, Rodger, is now what character on, Everybody Hates Chris? I may make this interesting with little goodies from my online store.
Be Well-Take care---rixxie

"Rodger", from What's Happening is now the upstairs neighbor, to Chris' family. He's in the show, Everybody hates Chris, what's his name?. I was watching, Good Times, it's a show from about 1978, they live in Chicago projects, trying to survive. I heard them tell, the youngest son,(what is that actors name?), he was about 12-17, on the show, he was so smart he could become president one day. I just realized, that here thirty years later, someone that looks a lot like him DID become president, something that wouldn't happen then. I also saw an episode, and J.J., (Jimmie Walker), had eloped with a young pretty junkie, who went on later to star as a dance teacher in fame. Who is she?
Talk to you, tomorrow--take care, rixxie
You, guessed it!! Debbie Allen! I'm enjoying these old reruns, of shows like, Maude, Good Times, Threes Company. The show I would like to see, in a rerun, is: That's My Mama! It starred, Clifton Davis, and I can't remember who played his mama. These shows were all, thirty years ago. The one I CAN'T watch, is is; All in the Family. You remember the bigot, living in New York. What's interesting about that show is, it had a spring-off, show. What Black character, was Archie Bunkers', neighbor, that went on to affluent neighborhood? I'll give you a hint; "beans don't burn on the grill..." Now, after that hint, you ALL should get it--I catch myself singing that theme song sometimes. Somebody tell me someting, about the Superbowl 2011, did you watch it? It seems like they kind of down-played it this year. I'm going to start taking the sunday paper! Everyone be safe, there's been a lot of tragedies, lately where I live--it can't be the only solution and, or worth it.
You take care, be safe--rixxie
Did you guess it? The answer to the trivia above-Drumroll; The Jeffersons! You proably knew that! Did, somebody find out what the actors' name was, that palyed Rodger, on What's Happening, and the upstairs tenant on, Everybody hates Chris? I was watching old TV, and caught an episode, of the Cosby Show. They had the great, South African, folkartist, writer and activist,(now historical figure), visiting the family on the show, Miriam Mekeeba ( I hope I'm spelling that correctly!). She was very, charismatic, and eloquent, when she spoked, I had imagery, moving visions of her country. She, in her later years was married, to Kwame' Toure', you know him as, Stokely Carmichael. The militant, and activist, for civil rights in the sixties and seventies. I was glad to be able, to take my two children to meet him at my church, in Oakland, California, in the 1980s. He brought lovely slides of him, and Mekeeba at home and of the beautiful countrysides, of South Africa. It was a very moving experience. The Cosbys, took a picture, of Miriam, with, "The Cosbys". It just struck, me that was a historical, moment in and of itself. The cast no longer exists; historical ground-breaking show, the picture, of her and the cast is now historical--Wow!
If you have any urban, or African American, trivia to share, let me know!! You can catch my new radio show, on blog radio, probably around, 3/08/2011, will be the first show. I'll only do it once a month, for holidays and specila events. I'll dot for a year, and then it will be archived, and you can listen to old episodes. I'll read some of my stories, and some of my blog, maybe share some jokes. And talk about my Tales & Myths book, that I'm revising.

Take care--rixxie

Hi! I'm having fun with this TV, and urban trivia! I've got a good one for you! You've probably seen, Tyler Perrys' House of Payne. The actor who plays, the character Curtis Paynes', nephew is what actor? I don't even know this one, Hint: he also played the boyfriend of the Huxables cousins' friend, who came to live with them. That was a lot of trivia--whe-e-w! If you get that one your good! I saw Good Times, they are in reruns. Here's a good one for you, what is the kid actor Ralph Carter, (who had a recorded an album when he was about 13 years old) what is he doing now? This is so much fun! Do you have one for me, and the readers? Just click on, where it says pop comment., as long as it's something nice and you don't curse, you may see it here!

Take care--rixxie

Hey! I'm enjoying old tv. I knew Janet Jackson, at ten years old, Played Penny the little girl, on Good Times. What I didn't know is that, Gary Coleman,(a very little Gary), was on the show too! He was a riot, played a classmate of Pennys'-Janet Jackson. Did you see the wedding scene for the Character, Thelma? It was beautiful, is the actor, Ben powers that married her on the show, still acting? Somebody drop me a note, and let me note. I'm in the middle of revising my book, and things are hectic. My blogradio, will happen in April instead of tonight, 3/10/2011. I'm just a little under the weather. You know what I thought would be interesting, is finding out whta happened to a lot of the babies born on tv shows over the last thirty years. Do you remember, Lionel, The Jeffersons' son? He married and had a baby, what is that person doing now? How about, the twin babies born on The Cosby show-Winnie and Nelson? can you think of anymore? I really want to know! Just leave me a note, click on comment...

Talk to later---rixxie
Hi- I was just thinking about what we were discussing, last time about about babies on tv. The baby born, on Girlfriends, is probably three years and a half. the show went off the sir about three years ago. The baby born on, My Wife and Kids', to junior the son,( remember him trapping around in his parents bed!) is almost four years old. See is you can find out where ANY of the babies, born on tv, in the last 35 years are now. Let us know! If you have the web sites of some of them, it would be interesting. Give me a few tidbits of trivia, I'll pass it on to my readers.
**************
This is a whole diffrent subject. Has anybody ran into anybody who looks like a celebrity in a ordinary place? I ran into this guy who could be a twin, for the rapper/producer Ice-Cube. It was kind of strange, I thought someone was playing a joke! What was your exciting encounter?

Tarrence limped down the street, having stepped on some old boarding that had fallen off a vacant house. There were too many; he tried not to look, the one in the center was his late uncles'. It was going to be sold for back taxes, Tarrence didn't even reflect on that. He was struggling, keeping his little room, Ms. Johnson rented out . She had a big White and light blue victorian, that look like it belonged in the movies. She had five rooms, down stairs she rented out, to supplement her Social Security. You could call his little place a studio; it had a small kitchen, a tiny bathroom and two windows. He had his own entrance way, he had ran into the other renters, from time to time. It was the old man who watched old movies, into the night, the church lady, and the others that worked odd hours.

He walked past the St.James Missionary soup kitchen, and wondered what they were passing out. He saw the line, from the other side of the street, it was two blocks from his room. He at one time, would walk past it, and think; "Why don't those people do something else?" It was times like this he realized, he WAS one of, "those people". The three hotdogs, half a loaf of bread, four eggs and assorted pasta, made whatever they were giving out seem like a feast. Two weeks before Christmas, he was not even in the mood. He was helping one of his cousins, a janitor, at Dunkin elementary school, clean up last week. He would slip him, a little something for helping. He happened to catch the schools', Christmas play. The little first graders, were all dressed up in red and white, smiling and singing Christmas carols. That was the first taste, of the Christmas spirit he had felt this year.

The cookie jar, his Grandmother used to keep his lunch money in, now held what he had saved for the Holidays and emergencies. He counted it three times to be sure, he didn't miss a dollar. It was $45.73, that what it was. He'd recycle some bottles and cans, and bring it up to fifty dollar. He was buying six gifts; one for his Mom and Dad, two gifts for his little step-son. He was six and a half and he saw him on holidays, and summertime. He had married his mother, when he was almost two years old. He was the most father presence, Tarrell ever knew. He had adopted him, and changed his first name, and gave him his last. He wanted very much to give Charlotte, a little something.

He had met Charlotte, in his computer course at Chaucer community college. She was witty, personable and made him laugh. She was forty, and fit she took tennis and dance classes. Her job had down-sized too. She like him, was upgrading her skills, She had invited him to, a Christmas eve gathering. She had invited friends, some family members, they were bringing potluck. She baked cookies, and had bought wine and sodas. They would watch Christmas movies, and eat dinner. He couldn't wait. Charlotte, was lovely and he tried not to smile too much when she looked his way. He decided to call his cousin, Renard and see if he could run him over to DiscountMart.

The last, nine days went by too fast, Renard thought to himself. He could had gotten, what he could with the little money he had, and so he was kind of taken it easy. He wished, he was closer to Charlotte; he missed being held. His last replationship, had left him wanting more. They had just drifted apart; ran out of things to talk. It just left him with a dogged feeling, of wanting; he had a void. As long as he stayed busy, it didn't bother him. He looked at the jeans, and sweaty t-shirt he was wearing. He had on the same clothes he'd slept in. He found himself lagging a little, not caring as much; he wanted to let his defenses down and just beg. He wanted to ask Charlotte to let him lay in her arms, just a little while. He looked at his schedule, at Saint Martins nursing home, he only had three days a week. The current schedule would, stay that way until March; he was hoping to get more hours. Things had been real lean, the extra hours he pulled in at the school, gave him some Christmas groceries.

Charlotte, drove through Renards' neighborhood, with caution. It reminded her of the where she had grew up; a lot of vacant houses, people hanging around with shopping carts, full of God knows what. She was taking a couple real estate classes, at the city college. She had gotten, a "B", last quarter. She was able to take, three classes and still keep her receptionist job, at the hospital. She made ends meet, but it was mondane; only the bare basics. It had been five years, since she'd divorced. The two incomes were, miles away from how she lived now. She took out, a notebook and wrote down two of the street numbers, of the vacant, boarded up houses. They were coming up, for tax sale soon. She was hoping the little cash, she had stashed from her car accident, would get something. Charlotte, looked in her mirror, and parked beside one of the houses. Her hair, was a mess, she took out her brush and lipstick. She had it curly and chin length. Her nut brown skin, was a little shiny from the sun. She took out her powder, went over her face and frowned, a little. She wrote the two addresses and phone numbers down. She dialed the number on her cell, and hope someone was there. A receptionist, at the clerks' office told her, one would be sold at the court house, Janurary 2nd, and the other, a week later. "Great-thank you!' She click ed off, and speed dialed Renard. "Hey, I'm right around the corner. I had to drop something off at my familys', so I was going to run by your house for a minute-if it's okay?" Renard, was so happy to hear hear voice, he had just thrown on some jeans and a blue t-shirt. "Yeah- girl, come on by! I'm cleaning up, and fixing somehting to eat, I'll see you in a minute."

Renard, felt his hair and new he neede to run the clippers over his head. He just spritzed it, with some Nushine, and and brushed it. He closed the door to the small bathroom, that smelled too-much like bleach. Charlotte looked especially good he thought, he hugged her and gave her a little kiss on the cheek. She was wearing a perfume, he had smelled before, that made him week to his knees. Her softness, and the sweet sent of; "was it Poison or Jasmine, or China Musk?" made him tremble a little. Her nut-brown skin, was smooth and flawless. And her curvy hips filled out the fancy jeans, in such a sexy way. The little shiny studs on her pants, shaped like small flowers, shimmered when she sat the box of goodies on the table. He was liking this girl, he could really let go this time.

"I brought you some the cookies, I made for my Mama". "You are so sweet, Charlotte, you really are-where you been?" "You know I was taking a real estate classes? I've been saving some money, for some little fixer uppers. Guess what! I found a couple right down the street! You won't believe it! One is only $875.00, in back taxes and the other is $1,129.00! The last one, for a thousand in back taxes is the little green and white one down the street--I called and so far nobody else has shown an interest-I may get them both! Would you come to the auction with me-it's in a few days?" Charlotte, was so excited and wound up, she hadn't noticed, the tears in Renards' eyes. He was trembling,"Renard-Honey, what's wrong--I say something bad?" He struggled to find his voice, instead he went over to her, and caught her face in his hands. He brought his hands slowly down over her arms, rubbing them gently. He just held her for a few seconds, swaying back in forth. He looked at her face again, and finally said, "That was my Uncles' house, that raised me-I was depressed about it. I like you very much, if you do that-you might not have to do ANYTHING ever again". He spoke in a husky, trembling voice that caught Charlotte, by surprise. She turned her face to his and kissed him on the cheek, and whispered; "I like you too--don't worry about it, Renard, evertyhing's okay". They just stood their holding each other for a while, knowing that, that one thing, was going to change everything.

Did you have wonderful thanksgiving? I stuffed myself, and danced it off. Did your Uncle Bo-Bo, do his funny impression, of a drunk man eating a turkey leg, at the table again? When you watch tv, ads about the Holidays, everybody is all dressed up on their best behavior. They are all so polite, when they are stuffing their face? Is that what your housewhold is like? I don't think anybody is going to admit, they have all have that, ONE relative that drives you up the wall on the Holidays. The one that gets me, was years ago, I was visiting with friends. crazy old Uncle Harry, they called him was like a human vacuum cleaner! The kids would get up from, their plates and run and play, leave their half-eaten, half-chewed food. Harry would go around, and eat ALL the food off their plates, even little Tee-Tee, with the boogie nose. He would be saying something like this;"M-m-m-m-M!! This sho' is good!" G-r-r-r-r-r-ROSS!! I know you have one! Polite society demands you keep it to yourself! I don't blame you! I'm ready to start a nice, Christmas, and then a Kwanzaa, story, very soon.

I was looking at some old buildings, the other day and remembering what they use to be. I was thinking, wouldn't it be really cool, if I created some figures, who resemble people who may have lived there, years ago. I wanted to turn it, into a garden and a library also. Have you checked out,Pepsi Refresh everything.com, that the Pepsi corporations, pet project. They give thousands of dollars to people who come up with viable projects. This falls, in the category, of my last post I was taking a stroll down memory lane. I was looking at an old srvice station, last week as we rode past it. It was the type, with the old fashioned pumps that remind you of the 1940s. There were, two pairs of old shoes, lying on the ground near the pump, actually three shoes.

a love, story ran through my mind, as we were passing this scene. I imagined two, young lovers, running away to spend ome time together ;they had climbed the fence. I have to fill in the blanks, but somehow when the security came, they ran away. They leaped the fence to get out, and the only thing that was left, was both of his shoes, and one of hers. I'll take a picture and show you. The oldness, of sneakers, and weather marks, leads me to think it was around the late 1970s.
Take care--rixxie
I wanted to pose as something, elegant or scary and enter a halloween contest for $100.00. I was going to pose in front of an old building and write a story about the picture. the truth is, I was a little ill, and the whole idea creeped me out. it reminded me of the night stalker--remember that spooky series from the seventies. You can see it, on in2tv.com. In the late eighties me and my date went to a halloween, contest at a night club. The prize was $1,000, I got scared off. I went as,"The sister from another planet", and my date was Tweetie bird, or something. We got to the door and everybody was wearing nice, evening clothes and staring at us! I told my friend, let's go, so we did--another friend said we should have stayed--we would have won. The story of my life!
Talk to you later--rixxie
Hi! I was talking about silly things I went as, for halloweens of the past. I was looking at some online gossip, and you wouldn't believe what some of the stars went as! I write about some of their antics, on one of my other blogs on Blogger, under the username,"marqar". You can click the link, to the left to check that out. I was looking for a black dress, I had the pearls already. I was trying out my best First Lady, look! Three years in role, 2003 to 2005, I was trying to organize, a dance on Broadway of whatever city you live in. We were going, to do the, "Funky, Funky Broadway", on broadway at a certain time, say 6:00 pm, halloween. I found out it was, a dirtier dance than i thought from the late sixties. I toned it down. Some people faxed and emailed their friends, in Los Angeles and New York, back South. We were going to do the dance, on the Broadway of our own city at the exact same time. People would have to bring their copy of the CD, and enough boomboxes to hear it. We could have put it on, YouTube. We may try next halloween, no real nasty dancing, though that creeps me out! The song is called ; Funky Broadway-by Dike in the Blazers, (I kid you not!) 1968 release. It's hard to find, I also thought about the song- Do You Love Me? by the Contours, real funky and slamming beat, it was around 1966.
