Jack London said,"You can't wait for inspiration, you have to go after it with a club." Do you agree or disagree? What inspires you the most? I'd have to disagree. Because if you hit an ideal too hard you'll knock it right out of your head. For me what inspires the most is what I find around me, and what presents itself to me in interaction with people I run into during my day. As an example, a lot of my writing is done at work. As a cashier I encounter between 50 to 150 people in a single nights work. Some of them are so brief and nondescript. Others are full of emotion as they tell me about their life and what might be going on at the time. As things slow down and I settle into the daily tasks, each customer that comes in presents another opportunity to meet a need and to be inspired by them. These moments of potential inspiration were not forced, they happened naturally and in the end inspired some of the best things I've ever written. Not my opinion, the opinion of others who see the end results of them here in the WdC and elsewhere. You are beloved! Copenator out! |
