Fairies Depart Their Realm, Hiding In Suburbia.
Fire was spreading through he hillside quickly. Peter and Emerald Haversham were forewarned and  prepared for their escape. Emerald looked at her infant son sleeping in his cradle . His little wings gave off a silvery light. Emerald picked up her  son and wrapped  him in a warm blanket. It was not only to keep him warm , but to hide the glow of his wings. What she had to do next was breaking her heart. She looked around at the home that they loved and her eyes filled with tears. They would be leaving not only their home, but their world as well.
"Em , we must go now. We will return. I promise. "
They ran from the cottage and into the woods behind the house. Peter looked back and saw the fire approaching their home and urges her to hurry, "Emerald, it must be done now."
She removed the blanket from her son and he opened his eyes and smiled at her and cooed. A wave of sorrow washed over her heart. She held him up under his arms and Peter recited the ancient words.
" This winged form, a gift which I now freely give, that in return the bearer shall live. And grant the hidden form shall remain, until the time comes to reveal again."
Their sons wings became dim and withered into ashes that fell and were scattered to the wind. Their son felt no pain. But as Emerald gazed upon his back and saw the silvery scars where his wings once were , she cried bitter tears. She wrapped Rowan snugly and lay him down. Emerald removed her cloak and her irridescent green wings fanned out behind her. The light from the distant fire illuminated her from behind.
"Em, I shall see you this way always. Though any form you should take, you will be my heart forever."
She looked at him with tears in her eyes but smiled. She was never more beautiful than this moment. The approaching fire reflected in her large green eyes.Peter repeated the incantation and watched as her wings disintegrated. She put on her cloak and picked up their son and held him close. Peter removed his cloak and his dark blue wings opened. Emerald looked at her husband and watched with great sorrow as his beautiful wings turned to dust and disappeared. He never took his eyes off her until it was done. He gathered his cloak about his shoulders. They hurried to the nearby stream and waded to the middle of it . Peter removed amulets from his cloak and placed them about each of their necks.
"I am afraid.", said Emerald.
"As am I .But we are together.Hold the boy tight and hold onto me. Don't let go."
Peter recited the spell ," Medius Aquarius Transportus."
They felt the water rise around them but yet they could still breathe. The water seemed to move faster and then it receded .They looked around and saw that they were standing in a fountain and a crowd of people were looking at them. Peter helped Emerald who was still holding Roan out of the fountain. They were in a very large building which had many shops in it. They looked until they saw the sign " We Buy Gold and Precious Gems". Peter went in and traded the gold and several rubies he brought with him for paper money.Looking around , they realized that the hardest part of their journey was just beginning. They would meet their friend Finley who had come across shortly before them. He had studied this new world so they could live there undetected. They would need to be cautious of their behavior so they would not attract attention. They knew that if they could come across into this world, then others could do so just as easily. It was this fear that would always be in the back of their minds.
"Well, you've made it! I was about to cross back and come get you myself!", said a burly voice.Peter and Emerald turned and were relieved to see Finley standing before them. He looked so very different . He was wearing clothes in the style of this new world. He was wearing a jogging suit, dress shoes , and a bowler hat.He held a paper bag with clothing in it .
Finley clutched the paper bag to his chest and cautiously looked about before speaking,"We need to change into these garments before we are noticed. There are "resting rooms" here where we can change in private." He handed the clothing to them and ushered them to the rest rooms. Peter entered the men's rest room with Finley who instructed him to use the stall to change.Finley exited and waited outside for him to dress. Once inside, Peter unfolded the bundle of clothing and saw the shirt was bright red and white checks, Blue pant with straps that went over the shoulders and a straw hat. Finley may be the elder fairy ruler, but he sometimes lacked common sense. This looked like a serf's garments. It was an insult to him. He put the clothing on and noticed a what appeared to be a scrying bowl on the floor of the stall. He got down on his knees and spoke into it," Finley! You idiot! Where are you? I will not wear this. "
Finley heard the commotion from outside the rest room door. He went into the rest room and opened the stall door. Seeing Peter speaking into the toilet, he spoke,"Why are you talking into the waste pot? What's come over you?"
Peter fumed,"I'll tell you what ! How can I hide wearing this?!", He pointed to his clothing and flicked at his hat.
Finley replied,"Listen, you do as I say or we will all be discovered! What do you think will happen when we are found out to be fairies? Do you want your wife to suffer? What about your son? We must hide our true selves if we ever hope to have a life here! Now let us proceed with our plan before we are discovered ." He stood over the kneeling Peter and put his hands over Peter's shoulders. "There, there man, It's just vanity talking . You just do as old Finley says and we'll be just fine."
They both heard a man's voice clearing his throat behind them. He was wearing wearing tight-fitting clothing with a fringed scarf about his neck. Noticing Finley in pimp clothing and Peter dressed as a cowboy, he assessed the situation and spoke,"You might just want to move to the Village honey. That's what I did." He tossed his scarf over his shoulder and departed leaving Finley wondering about this "Village" and if it would indeed be a good place to hide. Finley convinced Peter to wear the clothing and they went to fetch Em and little Roan. They waited outside the woman's rest room. She emerged in a nun's habit with a huge wooden cross holding little Roan dressed as jester, with bells on his shoes and cap. As they walked through the mall, Peter spied a shop window with large dolls  wearing the same clothing they were wearing now. A bright orange and black sign, " Going Out of Business Sale, Halloween Costumes 75% Off" hung in the window. Seeing the throng of people in line to purchase the same garments gave him confidence. Finley spoke up,"You see? I know what I'm doing. In no time we'll be running this place!" He swaggered proudly with his pimp medallion swinging back and forth.

Once outside the mall, Finley walked to the curb and waited. After a few minutes Peter asked, "Now what?"
Finley explained,"Well, we wait at this "bust stop" for the bust to arrive. Then we get on and travel to the inn where we will stay until permanent lodgings are aquired." The bus arrived and they boarded. The driver was a large-chested and attractive woman. Finley asked her,"How much will it be to ride your bust madam?" Em took the paper money and handed it to the driver who gave her the change and they found seats. Em and Roan were seated next to an elderly woman while Finley and Peter were seated in front of some rough-looking young men who began to taunt Finley and Peter. A well-muscled one with a crew cut spoke up," What are you? A couple of fairies?"
Finley was indignant,"Ha! We rule the fairies my good boy! I am the Head Fairy Ruler of all my lands."
The men burst into laughter.
The elderly woman sitting beside Em smiled at little Roan and asked Em,"Sister, is he an orphan? He's a cutey."
Em replied,"No, he is mine and my only son as of now. I hope to have several more as soon as Peter and I are settled in. there's nothing like feeling one's own babe growing inside you.", she smiled blissfully as she spoke.
The woman looked shocked but continued in conversation with Em.

When the bus stopped several minutes later Finley let them know it was time to disembark. As he passed the driver he spoke, "Thank you my gracious lady for letting us ride your large and comfortable bust.", he waved his pimp hat at her and leaned in to kiss her hand. She slapped him hard across the face and he was shocked and hurt.
"Get off my bus you jerk and don't ever get on it again."

Em spoke up, "Finley, I found out that we were riding a "bus" and it stops at "bus stops". A "bust" is a woman's breasts. You are dressed as a "pimp" which is a man who sells woman's  bodies for trade. I am dressed as nun, someone who is chaste and without child, and Roan is dressed as a village idiot. Thank you Finley, now may I take over the task of "blending us in"  to this world, with your help of course?"
Finley blushed crimson and nodded in humility.
"Now where are we bound?", questioned Em.
"To the inn just there across the road.", replied Finley.
"Very well, let us proceed then."
The pimp, cowboy, nun, and infant jester proceeded to their destination watched by all within in sight.
