High-school junior Leander Benoni has a terrible secret. He shifts into a lion each time his anger explodes out of his control, so he spends his days trying to stay as far away from people--and problems--as possible. He escapes into his art and uses self-harm as a means to cope with the lion within.
Fellow junior Elaine Mercedes doesn't want to see another teen suffer from life-stealing depression the way she's suffered the past few years. When she sees Leander's silent plea for help at school one day, her heart aches for him. But will her attempts to help him only wake the lion?
