Just lovely! Kinda sideways, but it reminded me of my old Buick that I inherited when my grandfather passed away. No gloves, but little remnants of his pipe tobacco everywhere. Completely different sentiment, I know, but the poem still too me there while it was also bringing me along with the poet. I love it when reading poetry is like that!

I love the line, "where his growth scared him."

I'm also glad to be introduced to more female poets. I feel like I'm not familiar with enough of them.

I stumbled on the same line. For me, it's because it wasn't the same voice as what I'd perceived up to that point.

Gorgeous poem, though.

I am loving this activity for getting me to articulate why the poems that stick with me do stick with me, but I'm not experiencing any surprises in my personal preferences...yet.

Wait by Adrienne Rich

Someone said that Adrienne Rich's book: The Dream of A Common Language was a must read. My library didn't have that one, so I'm reading Adrienne Rich's "Diving Into The Wreck."

One of the strands I follow, the thing but not the thing...

So far the poem "After Twenty Years" has resonated deeply with me. So I started more research.

And I came upon this Poem Talk from Kelly Writer's House.

I have a feeling I will be thinking about her work "Wait" most of the day. It will require my own close read.

My initial feeling is to want to resist political poetry.

I'm not sure why and must consider in greater detail.

How do you feel about political poetry?
