The DeviantArt/100ThemeWriters 100 Themes Challenge, "Minot" edition.
On LiveJournal, DeviantArt, and probably various other websites, is what's known as the "100 Themes Challenge." A user takes a list of 100 different themes--there are many different versions of the list floating around out there, even on the same sites--and creates a piece of artwork for each theme, ending up with 100 new creations. The artwork produced can be literal--a picture can actually be "33%" of something--or it can be symbolic--"33%" or a third as used in a less obvious, more meaningful manner.

Long ago I attempted the original 100 Themes Challenge with artwork based on my Manitou Island series. I never finished (my drawing skills suck), but got the idea in my mind to create written pieces around the 100 Themes, since writing is my main art form. I then discovered, on DeviantArt, a group/club dedicated specifically to writing on the 100 Themes ( http://100themewriters.deviantart.com/ ). I took the original list of this group (I believe it varies from the original original list) and started writing my 100 Themes, and I would like to finish this time. Hopefully.

For some reason this past year, the characters from the Minot spinoff of my D Is For Damien fiction have been constantly on my mind to the near-exclusion of my other storylines, and since the beginning of the year (2012) I've been writing lots of adult scenes with them. Since I'm learning a lot more about them with adult writing than I previously knew (they have foul mouths, I'm surprised to discover), I decided to use these characters--Det. Max Kristeva and wife Nora, Det. Chance Devetko, Stan Brooks, Det. Justin Reichert, Lt. Alan Kincaid, Jay Campion, Sheriff Wayne Rhoades, Russell Whittaker, Det. Michelle Rosedale, et al.--as the subject of my 100 Themes. So this here is the 100 Themes Challenge, Minot edition.

PLEASE NOTE that while I kept graphic content to R rated or lower in accordance with DA's adult content rules, there IS still plenty of violence, adult-themed content, and especially adult language in these scenes. I think I've finally learned how to write R-rated material as opposed to my usual PG-13 and NC-17/X, and the difference has to do mainly with swearing. The stuff I've been writing lately seems different from the stuff I've put out so far, in case anybody notices or wonders. It seems to have gotten grittier. (Might be just me.)

Somebody once told me I'm a great writer, why do I waste my talent on fantasy when I could put it to such better use writing realism? I took that as a very backhanded compliment, since fantasy is my primary genre. So I have to wonder what that person would think of this effort.

This is still obviously a work in progress, but as the themes are completed and proofed, they'll be posted here (space permitting) until I reach all 100 or quit. I hope, should I succeed at this, to write 100 Themes scenes/stories for my other storylines/characters, and/or to move on to more of the different 100 Themes lists and try those out for size with these characters. I'm having a great deal of fun, especially since I haven't written very much in a long time and it's nice to get back into such a thing.

I do hope that if you read, you enjoy, and keep coming back for more. Please COMMENT if you like a scene/story, and feel free to comment more than once! I share my work in the hopes others will like it (NOT seeking criticism or publication), so I don't tire of positive comments. And feel free to point out typos so they can be fixed.

The original novel Minot can be found here: "Minot Please be aware, it's an older work of mine and is rather lousy. Unfortunately, aside from "A Crack Of Light and "Milk Cartons, I believe, I have no other major Minot-related work to share, except adult scenes that can be found at http://original.adultfanfiction.net/authors.php?no=19457 (GRAPHIC WRITTEN ADULT CONTENT, age confirmation required.) Feel free to ask questions about character/plot/unwritten novels or whatever you want.
