Poems, snippets, odds & ends. A place for drafts and ideas. |
This book once housed my entries for the 30 Day Image Prompt Contest 2013-- a contest that is now among my own belongings (thank you, Carmela!).
Entries were a mix of stories and poems. As such, this is the perfect catch-all book for whatever random thing I happen to be working on, as well as random prompt writings. Thus far, I have added some miscellaneous poems, jotted down on a whim. We'll see how it goes and if this somehow becomes a more well-rounded book or remains mostly poetry and private entries. For now, this book is my anything-goes collection for work that may or may not be awesome, finished, edited, or thought through in advance. Cheers! True to its miscellaneous nature, this book has become my catchall for random poetry drafts, including all of those written for "Give It 100!" . As of February 22, 2015, I am writing one poem every day for 100 days. My progress... went well, so I'm doing it again! Some entries will be here and others will be kept elsewhere. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** There's a pile of bodies beneath my bed stabbed with bookmarks and left to bleed out or splatted open suicides, spines breaking in slow motion and there may be a metaphor for my life under there too somewhere between the halted progress of stilled pages and the not knowing where I left off to begin again or perhaps I'm one of them, waiting with dog-eared pride to find out if I'm too good for this or not good enough. |
He wrote the letter (do you like me?) on graph paper blue-lined boxes (check yes or no) half hidden in quirk a calculated move, angling for more, his stiff bisector clear to all who look and say nothing. |
There's a lull after the wall of curses but before the calm reply, a shellacked silence when he inspects the wood grain of my face and realizes I'm not real and he is not a carpenter. |
Diane impales the night with stiletto heel click-clicking through the lamp-lit circles and disappears in dumpster steam, the pre-dawn alley's milky mist. |
You're like ambulance tires smearing my hopscotch chalk, a colorful tread-print path to disaster. And when your siren stops bleating through my playground, settles in the growling pulp, perhaps you'll realize some lines shouldn't be crossed. |
My journal flaunts its new coat of paint faintly sticky and longing for patterns, paisley whorls or argyle diamonds, begging for handwritten sheets, cream and dainty blue, turned wallpaper. |
"Power Reviewers" Lightning streaks the air, chases wind across cloudless cheerful sky. Oxygen sizzles. Moisture gone in one slick flash that steals the eternally slow sun's breath away. Port raids have begun. Written on 9/13/15 for a PR challenge. I'm not a group member. |
SWM. Stupidly pumped! Seeks same for mutual nerdgasm. Reason enough to despise reboots, remakes, revamps, and regurgitations of "art" derivative the first time around. |
