O'siyo Oginalii Tsilugi - Hello friends - Welcome - to My first blog. A place to share.
Dream Catcher
Dream Catchers

An ancient Chippewa tradition
The dream net has been made
For many generations
Where spirit dreams have played.

Hung above the cradle board,
Or in the lodge up high,
The dream net catches bad dreams,
While the good dreams slip on by.

Bad dreams become entangled
Among the sinew thread.
Good dreams slip through the center hole,
While you dream upon your bed.

This is an ancient legend,
Since dreams will never cease,
Hang this dream net above your bed,
Dream on, an be at peace.

Day 1354 - Thrill Seekers

Amusement parks can be found everywhere. Are you fond of them and if so, what is your favorite ride and why?

This may sound odd but I am not fond of rides at all. The only ride that I do like is the Tilt-A-Whirl. I like the spinning and the fact that it is down low. When I was a kid I had the day lights scared out me on the Ferris Wheel and the Roller Coaster by my brothers and to this day cannot tolerate heights. The fair (especially the rodeo and the animals) and Disneyland ( watching the faces of the children light up) is more my speed. *Blush*

My kids are planning to go to Magic Mountain and asked me to go. *Laugh* I quickly remember the several chapters that needs my immediate attention. *BigSmile*

I kind of take it that Sunday is more or less a free day. I have had a very busy week, I finally ended my jury duty on Friday afternoon, been trying to catch up on my outline of my story, (it is materializing nicely) and still researching my own question for Friday night about businesses. I have talked with Amy because I too have been researching the copywriting business.

I also have talked with Fyn. My son and his wife were cleaning out and going through her grandmothers things. She came across several, well written stories for children by her great-grandmother and beautifully illustrated by her aunt both of whom are deceased now. I have started the beginnings of the process for Fyn to evaluate them for submission for my son and his wife. We are all very excited.

Well, back to the drawing board for me.

Day 1335: July 21, 2016

I got shiny new crutches yesterday that I have to use for 7 weeks, and I have a big batting, plaster, Ace wrap, and tape covered lower left leg. Interesting story, really, but I will leave that for my blog. But I want to hear of a time YOU were on crutches or were in a cast/splint. How did you injure yourself? Were you a kid or an adult? Can you laugh about it now that it's in the past (unless it is something you're still going through, in which case how are you coping?) If you've never been injured this way, what do you attribute that to?

Hi, well I have never been on crutches but I have been in a cast. My landlord, about four years ago at the time, had the kid that lived behind me dig a ditch that I was promised that the water company was to take care of for a water line. He neglected to tell me or put up any warnings. I came out carrying a blanket, didn't see it and down I went, shattered my left shoulder to point that I had to have a complete shoulder replacement done. Nah...I don't laugh because I can use my arm from my hand to my elbow but I cannot raise my arm to shoulder height or above my head. I compensate by bending over to comb my hair and do all my reaching with my right arm. I did, however, one heck of a lawyer. *Smile*

Pick something that happened on this day and talk about it in your blog. I've included a link to give you some ideas.

Well, I got snagged this week for jury duty. *Gag* Well today I didn't have to go. *BigSmile*, but I have to call again tomorrow night to see about Wednesday. I would so much rather stay home instead of sitting all day—waiting. That is so boring!

DAY 1342: July 18, 2016

We've experienced triple digit days here in Las Vegas. It' about time for the monsoonal moister to arrive so we'll be experiencing triple digit days with high humidity. Write a recipe for a Summer Cooler. It can be drink, food, or any other way you cool down on days with high humidity and triple digit temperatures:

We have been experiencing triple temperatures here in Bakersfield, Ca as well. We are expected to COOL to a nice 98. *Laugh* The two things that have had a lot of the last 3 weeks are my favorites:

Cold Root Beer Floats

Take a tall glass or mug fill with vanilla ice cream. Pour cold root beer over it, top with whip cream and a cherry - YUM!

Ambrosia -
Take a can of mixed fruit, drain the juice place in a cold bowel. Mix about a quarter cup of sweet coconut add about a quarter cup of pecans Add whip cream and mini marshmellows to your liking and enjoy!

DAY 1339 July 15, 2016

Let's talk about the latest app that is making a splash. What are your thoughts about Pokemon go? Do you think is a trend that will last or simply be a flash in the pain? Do you feel there are risks?

Well for me, I think it is stupid and a waste of time, but this is only my opinion. I have watched the news and have heard about people walking into streets, highways, and walking off 90 foot cliffs. This is absolutely insane. I would much rather spend my time writing, but I don't sit in the middle of a street, highway or close enough to a cliff's edge to fall off it to do it. I don't and have never played video games. Perhaps if enough fatalities come through they will ban it. I just hope my son isn't among them.

I was reading Creating Characters by the editors at Writer's Digest and came across this:
There is a character hierarchy where not all characters are created equal. They indicate place holders,walk-ons, minor characters and your lead characters create the story. I'm curious how do you measure the importance of each character before the story develops or does it just fall into place? I'm a poet trying to learn more.

Hi, I have been busy discussing the political events of the day. My take may or not be the same as others, but they are as I see things developing. Anyway, to get my mind back to my more creative modes I will get to the excellent question for tonight.
Character Hierarchy:
For me, the role that the character plays a huge role. I start out with the center character or protagonist then I create the adversary - the antagonist then at least two strong supporting characters. The story I am working on now has three. Then as I need them, there may be a couple of "place holders, walk-ons, or other minor characters" that don't place a huge part but keep the story moving. That is the most important. Regardless of their role, how big or small ask yourself what are they doing to move the story forward.

Confined within the law or soaring well above it:

Which category do you fit in?

It doesn't matter which side of the aisle you are on, it is the safety of us all Americans that is at stake. Not republicans or democrats. Do you think Hillary crossed the line? Do you really want her as Commander in Chief gambling with your life and the those of your children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grand grandchildren?

Sounds scary!

What is your favorite way to use veggies?

My Favorite Subject!

WOW Lyn, you really know how to get to me. FOOD! *Laugh*

VEGGIES

I think you really have to narrow it down just a bit. It is largely depends on the veggie, how you liked it cooked and what it is going to go with. I am always trying to slip in my veggies as a "side" dish for the family BUT ME? if I didn't like just a tiny bit of meat—I would make one hell of a vegetarian.

Just to name a few veggies and ways of cooking:

Green beans - mixed with bacon and onions
Cauliflower - deep fried
Sweet Potatoes - deep fried or baked
Spinach - chopped fresh in a salad or boiled
Cabbage - stuffed or boiled
Celery - fresh in a salad or a macaroni salad or potato salad
Corn on the cob - boiled slow in milk and butter
The list goes on and on. There isn't a veggie that I don't like and figure new ways of cooking it.

You should taste my eggplant and my spaghetti squash with spaghetti sauce and hamburger meat - Better than pasta!

DAY 1327 July 5, 2016

How do you feel about firework displays? Professional or Amateur? How do you feel about the latest trends with music? Are they popular in other parts of the world or is it just an US tradition? If so tell us about them.

1. Firework displays: personally I love them. As a kid growing up, I lived about 2 blocks from Bakersfield College. Every year they would put on a show. It was big, spectacular, and wonderful. Every year after my dad's BBQ we would gather on the front lawn with own fireworks and homemade ice-cream that my dad put together. Each year we all took turns choosing a flavor.

When I grew older and married, my husband and I bought a home in the same neighborhood. The same distance from the College. We carried on the tradition for our kids. My kids and grandkids carry on this same tradition. The only thing missing, besides my husband of course, are the College Fireworks. The fire department suspended that a few years ago. They claimed it something to do with safety. I don't remember any problems. I think it had more to do with money. We still gather on the front lawn with homemade ice-cream, set off our fireworks to share with the neighbors as they share with us.
Happy 4th of July

2. Music - On this subject I can only give you my preference. I like country music - only. Artists from several different countries help to make it popular. I pay attention to the song not necessarily the artists. I think that it appeals to many different people.
