iN 2016 THIS IS MY 'PURSUE THE HORIZON' ACTIVITY. It's all about poetry, those well known, and ME!!
When my total items hits 1,000, I have to delete many so I can build it up to 1,000 again; Instead of deleting any poems, I've placed the maximum number here, separate like chapters, so I can keep writing and posting what I write to reach the maximum number again and again. ANN
Ann, I love the first poem
The House by the Side of the Road by Sam Walter Foss
It is so real and has a heart and insight.
The second as a warning to mankind of things to come. So as it was in the days of Noah! And man still walks the earth and takes no notice. Yet the man in the house on the side of the road has wisdom beyond others. He sees what others brush aside... in their stride.
A great choice today Ann and thankyou for sharing.

Cinn thank you. When I read poetry, it becomes personal to me; not the technological review required in college, but how it feels within me, it's meaning for living in this ole world, what it teaches me, how it touches me.......... When I chose to enter your activity here, I wondered what you hoped you would find interesting and worthwhile, however when I tried to analyze technically, it was so foreign, I decided to just let my thoughts be personal if that's what they choose. Poems valuable to me must touch some part of my soul, not just my mind.

Kit of House Lannister Choconut ~ House Targaryen Thank you both for your response. During any day, when a thought, a phrase on TV, a news note, a photo, something comes to mind causing me to say 'there's a poem in that' then I go to my computer, write a line and see how the poem will write itself. Yes, the 'down down down' line as it appears on the page, is favorite of mine too; it illustrates the message. That type of format I've learned from reading how Cinn artfully places her poems on a page...that art gives her poems real impact.
I've always loved "Abou Ben Adhem" and how it fits my father's life.

Gosh, that's so sad. Your poem really touched me, Ann. "Then dropped him down down down." That sent a shiver down my spine. Poor little boy.
But the poem Abou Ben Adhem, on the other hand, made me smile. It was my Mum's favourite poem. She was one of ten children and, of all of them, she was the one who fell in love with God. She told me all the children learned this poem by heart and recited it to their mother on her birthday every year (Christmas Day). It was her favourite poem, too.
Thank you for both bringing back a happy memory, and moving me with your own poem
I really love the Abou Ben Adhem poem. Thank you for sharing!
As to the tragic incident you wrote about... sadly, that mother-child bond isn't always there. Some parents do not love their children. I know this to be true - my mother does not love me. She has admitted this.
So, who knows what went on in the mind of the woman who committed that horrific crime? I don't know. The poor kid, though. And the poor father.
