Everyday stuff.
I have never done a blog before, so here goes. Before I start properly I am going to have a sneaky peak at others blogs.

Ok, so I 've had a looksy at other blogs and they are pretty much what I thought they would be. Mostly like a diary/journal but with thoughts on various things and ideas about projects on here. I have never had so much as a diary which is strange because I love to write. I also don't think I will be writing every day because I am somewhat unpredictable. I have days were I have tons of ideas and poems I need to write down and then I get distracted by other stuff, then I have days were I cant put a few rhymes together but need to vent out about my day. So poetry and writing for me is hit and miss although I love creating.

Anyway, about my week till now......
I got a kitten a few days ago, I saw her online and was smitten with its heart shaped face and almost human eyes. Normally kittens have those wide open scared looking eyes that are close together and cramped near there mouths on a flat face. Which I might add has its appeal in cuteness especially with a crown of fur. This little kitten however had an almost Siamese face with sarcastic slanted eyes, quite a human expression on its face, beautiful.

The next morning I went to pick her up with my daughter from a woman that said she had rescued this little helpless beauty. The first alarm in my head went off after I paid her. She was telling me what kind of character this kitten has, meows noisily a lot, quite a scared little thing and feisty. The meowing and feistiness are good traits in my mind and the fearfulness cant be addressed with a lot of love, it was then that she said 'just like her mother, we've had her for years and she can be quite naughty' hmmmm a rescue kitten indeed, but why lie??

Well it was a few hours after we got our new kitten home that the second alarm went off in my head, I realised that although this kitten was fluffy, underneath she was just skin and bones with a very round belly after I had fed her. Then her eyes started to stick together so she could hardly open them and her meowing started, almost painful cries. I cleaned up her eyes but they kept getting all sticky, whilst I was doing that and she was struggling flakes of dried blood fell out of her fur. I had tears in my eyes as I bathed her, a ton of fleas filling the sink. I couldn't find any breaks in her skin as I dried her so I'm not sure where the blood came from. I called the vet and had an appointment for her the next day.

Not sure how to handle the fleas, I combed them out a much as I could and flushed them. I wasn't that successful because every time I stroked her I found another and another. 24 hours of flea killing and she still had more when I took her to the vets. The vet was so nice, he checked her over and weighed her, then told me that although he thought she may be about 9 to 10 weeks old that she is very underweight and advised me to feed her baby food to increase her weight quickly. He couldn't use a flea treatment on her because she only 600 grams and needs to be 1kg to be safe. He also wouldn't do her injections until she was a healthy weight and her eyes had cleared up, he gave me eye drops.

That was on Wednesday, today is Saturday and in only a few days she has gained weight although I can still feel her ribs and has become a kitty racing machine, the meowing loud has also stopped. She has become very attached to me and is showing no signs that she is fearful of anyone else. Her eyes have also cleared up and although its a struggle with the fleas until she can be treated she is happy. We also decided on a name for her today because up until now my children and I have been calling her poor little kitty.

We have called her Morla, after the tortoise from the Neverending Story, because she is a beautiful tortoiseshell cat and we believe that she will live a long, strong and happy life. Morla the Ancient One.
