Empire set a trap, to test warships. What happened to the people stuck living on a trap.
The Atlantians Book 7
The hidden Dreadnought = Fleet Admiral Frances
Her Destroyer = Commander James Winston

The Atlantians try to keep ranks clear and easy to understand.
Fleet Admiral is an Admiral that is put in charge of a fleet of ships whether it be a few Warships or a few dreadnoughts.
Admiral is reserved only for Living Computers no other office can hold that rank.
Commander is reserved for the humanoid Officer that teams up with a living computer to form a battle team.
System Commander: He and his living computer teams controlled the solar system defense by working as battle teams with the Fleet Admirals.
Base Commander is the officer in charge of ground support and crew training.
Lieutenant Commander is a commander in training. They mostly serve under Base Commander.
Master Sargent this is used for base supply and supplies sent to the fleet.
Sargent this is a rank they use to promote Lieutenant commanders from or Master Sargent.
Cadet these are the normal crew members of the Warships, Destroyers and Dreadnaughts.
Recruit these are the new trainees where they promote the cadets from.

The Ships of the Fleet:

Dreadnought main defense and fleet carriers. It is a planet and generally house crew and families in cities on its surface.
Destroyers are the size of a moon and used to clear a battle field by using tractor beams to draw debris into its huge set of grinders. It salvages the dead ships and debris. Its main job is to pull in active fighting enemy ships to lessen the fire on another fleet ship.
Warships these are the fastest and the most deadliest out of all the fighting ships.
Scouts  are much smaller than a Warship and can be carried in a Warship.Their speed and smaller mass make them travel through space faster than any other craft.
Troop Transports these are space to ground troop carriers, and can act as tanks or energy shield barriers to protect the ground troops.
Fighters are a single one manned craft designed to take advantage of the damage one of the bigger ships inflict and make it worse or finish the kill.

Ralston's finder: Captain John P Handcock.

The ship or second main character is: The good ship James A Ralston or just Ralston.
Ship description: The Ralston is an Empire Warship. They are totally round like a beach ball.  Since the world is a Steampunk world, the ship has two river boat twin smoke stacks coming out close to the top. Her hull is painted up like a hot air balloon. She has attached a gondola for carrying people underneath it with four ropes attached to her hull in special hull metal holders she made for this purpose.

There will always be smoke coming out of the smoke stacks, because she has to have one steam powered generator running at all times.  The ship itself would have four rows of windows around its center. Two rows above the center line and two rows below it. The reason for this placement is they are the warships crew quarters.  The ship will afford them a view in each quarter when not under fire or engaged in a battle.

When in battle there are hull pieces that slide down and cover the windows and these sections of hull also carry heavy weaponry with missile launchers.  Underneath the four rows of windows are out lines of four large cargo bay hatches.  Close to the top are two smaller hatches, each one is open part way with a smokestack sticking out.  With one on each side of the ship there is in effect only one boiler room.

She does have a dish like receiving antenna and three or four whip like antenna sticking out on top. But those are retractable so they will not show as she is trying to hide the fact she is a lone remaining Empire warship. Since her power plant blew up. She is stuck using the technology level of the planet to keep herself functioning.  She is lacking fuel for space travel, but uses the balloon disguise to fly around the planet. Keeping herself supplied with coal to keep the steam powered generators going.

Some of the background story to The Good Ship James A Ralston.

Her last Imperial assignment was to guard this planet and help its citizens anyway she can. That is the  reason she uses this disguise is to guard the planet.  Her weapon systems are fully functional, but she doesn't have gun crews or military personal anymore to man them. They died when the power room exploded and she crashed on the planet.

The crew she has now:

The Ancient enemy: Sir Reginald K bloom and company. He is one of five in the last nest of the Empire's real enemy on Klarkston. They are shape shifters with a hive mind and all five have minds of great power.

Planet Klarkston, is the capital world of the Dresden Sector.  Most capital planets are created with hallow centers that they keep hidden as they are the Home Base for the Empire Guardian Fleet, and Fleet's head quarters.  The planet is designed to fool anyone doing a planetary survey or as the Atlantians call it Graphic Survey.

Klarkston's history:

The planet was terraformed by the Atlantians, and these people were created to colonize it. According to ancient texts they never were told the truth.  The reason was the Atlantians didn't want to be worshiped as gods. They just wanted to welcome their long lost brothers and sisters to the flocks.  The  truth was the gate builders created them in the Atlantian image. Created a hidden world gate for them to find when they were ready to join the Empire.

The people, when left to their own devices, grew up and started exploring space after finding a hidden ancient library from a ruin on the second planet in the solar system. They developed hyper jump drive and advanced their civilization into the Empire.  When the enemy gathered their forces, and attacked. They used the world gates to leap frog from system to system until the Empire shut them down.  That made the enemies universal domination plan a very slow one.  Now the real effect was in some places, the Atlantians won, and destroyed the enemy. They started to rebuild in those spots, the rest were eaten.

The enemy in this sector and planet were dying out.  They couldn't reproduce anymore.  The industrialists of the fair city Fountain, just outside the capital city. Had polluted it with the waste chemicals as instructed by the enemy.  They could no longer restore their bodies by ridding them of impurities.  This caused serious aging and led to decay in their one cell body.  They still had only the main goal left, to devolve the Atlantian race as far as they could.  They were waiting for the main enemy fleet to found them again.  They had a huge mass feed planed out for their arrival.  Too bad they would never be found.

The Thieves = this started out as a merchant clan selling computer and weapons up grades.  Once a rival clan tried to break in on their product line it became a war of industrial espionage. They got really good at stealing the other clan’s secrets.  Soon the rest of the Empire was buying their ability to find out secrets. They never went back to selling weapons again. They formed a guild that to protect the secrets they knew. By doing so they became a secret. It is not a wonder every piece of information from that sector is now classified.
