It depends on the age of the child. My parents divorced when I was in college but I had young siblings, my youngest only about 5 or 6.

For me, I saw it coming a mile away, my mom was cheating on my dad constantly and obviously unhappy.

My sister who was seventeen at the time went a little wild because my mom let her run free. There was even a time the cops called my dad to come pick her up.

My younger siblings managed okay. My youngest sister doesn't see my dad much but they both try to salvage their strained relationship.

This is an interesting one .....I think kits perfectly reasonable to talk to close friends about problems in a relationship as you would in any relationship. Bottling things up can be quite damaging personally and getting things out can sometimes be a helpful release.

What I find disrespectful is these people who rant and rave about their partner, kids, other family, etc consistently on facebook. Usually the sort of people who do this will do it at every opportunity. It's completely unnecessary and its not a private rant with a friend. You're effectively disrespecting that person to the whole world.

In all honesty, its up to the too people concerned really within reason. If two people want to kiss and snog each other's face off then sod everyone else really.

I dont actually see that much public affection these days though I am reminded of sitting in the sun by the London Eye a couple of weeks ago and my friend and I commenting on the long drawn out kissing session by two people on the other side of the grenery. Was I bothered, not really.

Lets face it, theres so much war/fighting and things to complain about, there cant be too much wrong with a bit of love eh ...to a point anyway

As has been said, much depends on the circles you mix in. For example, the village I grew up in, it was very rare to hear about drugs. I remember when I was about 15 a friend telling me she had smoked a joint, and being really shocked. Now i mix in different circles so know many people who partake and its a very different city and environment I live in.

I think Steve's points are valid but to be honest they are all 'media based' stereotypical comments.

I am absolutely categorically against any form of capital punishment. I'll list my thoughts/reasoning below.

1. there are too many miscarriages of justice that we hear about. Once you've killed someone there is no turning back.
2. The executed person is not the one who suffers. He/she is gone ....it is the family who suffers.
3. People often say that heinous crimes like child abuse & rape, etc should be capital offences. However, again the offender will not suffer if he is executed. In fact once incarcerated, many such criminals would rather be killed than suffer the torment from other inmates. Executing does not punish the offender.

Personally I find it quite shocking that well developed forward thinking Western countries still have Capital Punishment.

I think I agree with Jellyfish-on holiday

to an extent. Sex is natural and as long as it fits in with the plot of the film/book then it should be included and certainly no need for censorship necessarily. Like jellyfish, I find long drawn out sex scenes either in book or on the big or small screen extremely dull and pointless and will tend to fast forward. In fact a movie that needs a long drawn out sex scene to fill it would generally be something I'd avoid ....and again I'm not a prude. if I really want to watch sex that much I can find some porn. If I want to watch a movie then I'm not watching it for the sex.

Hmmm ...I think I laboured that point a bit

Personally I don't really like to read long, drawn out paragraphs about people having sex and neither do I like to watch it on TV. I'm not a prude, and there is nothing wrong with it, or people who like to read/write/watch it etc but personally, I just find it pretty boring, watching two characters on TV kissing and caressing each other with some loved up music in the background! .

In terms of whether it is "normal" or not - yes, I think it is perfectly normal, and acceptable, nowadays, and rightly so. There is no need for censorship of sex. As long as the product is labelled correctly, then it is a persons choice whether they choose to indulge or not

.....I think I'm very much 'existing' at the moment and if I look back and analyse things, thats probably been the case for a while .....but its also about perception. One person's idea of 'living' might be going out for a drink once or twice a week. Another's might be much more ...I think I fit into the latter category where maybe I expect more than I have a right to.
