A homeless man secretly builds a one-room place to stay under an ornate grave at the cemetery. That's his ticket to survival. Yet when he hears a female voice talking to the dead man and shouting and cursing at his spirit, he replies the woman just to make her leave so that he can get some sleep. Thinking that her dead husband is talking to her from beyond the grave, the shocked woman begs for mercy and directions. She especially wants to know what she should do with her young lover and the money he has left for her.

The poor guy starts manipulating her trust and has her open a bank account in his name. Soon he engineers his escape from the grave and starts to live a respectable life in New York City until the day he actually meets his naive benefactor. She is the same woman that he shot years ago in a robbery attempt and crippled her. That's why she is in a wheel chair. To atone his sins, he decides to do something truly extraordinary...
