A story which goes along with the albumn "Hot Fuss" By The Killers. |
"Hot Fuss" by The Killers was released on June 7, 2004 in the United Kingdom and on June 15, 2004 in the United States. It sold more than 7 million copies worldwide and has was even ranked by Rolling Stone magazine #43 of its "100 Best Albums of the Decade." None of these facts are why I love this album. I am never one to ponder on the popular music or listen to music because it is what everyone else is listening to. I search for songs that mean something to me or tell a story or songs that can trap you in time and make you forget everything else but the music. When "Mr. Brightside" came out on the radio in 2003, I was new to Indie Rock and Roll and Punk music. I had grown up listening to only Country music, and a little hip hop. I am from Mississippi so not many Rock bands were presented to me. At the time I was 21 years old and burnt out on the same old tunes and lyrics, so when "Mr. Brightside" caught my attention I was intrigued and mystified, but mostly curious. So I bought "Hot Fuss" When it was released and I played the album out. Every song spoke to me and unraveled this hunger I had for Rock n Roll. The lyrics were creative and heart wrenching. I loved every song and 11 years later I still love every song. It is one of those albums I can listen to anytime and never get tired of it. I chose "Hot Fuss" for the creative and sometimes haunting lyrics that open up my mind to possibility so I can create and tell a story of my own. The songs on this album open up many characters and interesting plots for me to play around with. As I went back over all the songs I decided the whole album in order can tell one big story, with a bonus story at the end just like the albums bonus song. My goal is for this to be as much fun to read as it was to write. |
