... The earth trembled and roared as though there was a great earthquake tearing up the ground. To add to her terror parts of the hill exploded and collapsed. Liani looked on with hopeless dread watching the cave entrance, with fading hope that her father would emerge alive and well, and everything would be ok. All that came out was a blast of air, dust and rocks. There was a final deep rumble as it seemed to seep deep into the earth, which was followed by an eery silence. A shocked and distraught Liani broke the silence with a broken and strained "N.. Oo!" Into the air. She whispered "I'm too late.." Then her aqua coloured eyes pooled with tears as she broke down into uncontrollable sobs.... |
