My blog of my life.
This blog is called Journey Through the Mirror in hopes that you will get to look through my eyes in it.

Working in a new genre is hard. I've been expanding my writing into the Steampunk genre, and it's a tentative foray to say the least. I'm constantly second guessing every single word I put on the paper, wondering if it is authentically Steampunk material. I have always been a perfectionist and now that ugly part of me seems to be rearing it's head, causing lots of self-doubt. I got involved in two campfires to further my writing skills in Steampunk and I just painstakenly crafted my two additions over the last hour. It seems that no matter what I do I second guess. I hate the feeling that brings. I wish that things were easier in my head.

So I have insomnia! I think that's all I can say, especially when my days and nights seem to be mixed around. It's probably because I've worked third for so many months, but I don't know for sure. It might be all the creative juices flowing through my brain. Whatever the reason, I'm up and unable to sleep, too many new things to think about rushing through my brain. I will regret this tomorrow, or I mean later today, but right now I'm going to go with it.This works well for me right now.

Serenity to you and yours!

Mirrors fascinate me. I love the idea that there is more there than our simple reflection. If it doesn't hide another world or capture souls, or even reveal ghosts, it's a study that I love. I think it's a great if not general way of sprucing up a story in the fantasy or sci-fi genre. Mirrors show our world through different eyes, I think the most fascinating are the older looking glasses that we no longer use. I like vanities and handheld mirrors.

Steampunk well, this is a brand new genre for me that I'm all into. Introduced by Beth Cato in the Clockwork Dagger series, I have a love for steampunk! Already I've joined a Steampunk group here on Writing.com and borrowed The Steampunk Bible from my local library. I know, I get excited about things!

I know this post says more as well, but I can't think of anything except, well I suppose I could tell you I'm working on several projects that are detailed and complex in structure to post here on Writing.com! Hopefully some of you will read some. I'll be sure to post when these go up!
