Reviewers Anonymous

I've gotten so disgusted with the system of rewarding reviewers that I don't want to have anything to do with it any more. Members join the big groups, post large numbers of template-heavy, cut-and-paste reviews and then fire off review rewards to members of their own group -- confident that they'll have the favor returned. What is the point of this, exactly?

Esprit and I have chatted about this a little, after I reviewed "Invalid Item" . (You can see this in my public reviews. I guarantee it will be the last one in there.) Serious writers and reviewers have persistent, worsening problems with the way reviewing works on the site.

The question is what to do about it. Maybe as a first step, imagine you could do anything -- start from scratch and redesign reviewing on WDC. What would you do?
