This book is really drawn out, but the writing is excellent. I would suggest this one for a Halloween read. It is very haunting and the lives of the old men in the Chowder Society
are connected seamlessly, but you have to remember all the characters' names to understand this story(and there are a few of them). Peter Straubs' writing is a lot like
Stephen Kings. Maybe that's why they collaborate quite often; but if a reader has never read Straub, I would suggest Mr. X, (a book that's a tribute to H.P. Lovecraft's writing) or
Shadowlands. And of course, The Talisman and Black House, both were a collaboration with King and they are connected to the Dark Tower series.
