Since you have a free account, you are putting your text into Static items. Static items are separate from each other, and you can't "add a chapter" to them. You can edit a Static item and add more content to it, or you can create a second+ Static item that readers can identify as more of the same because of the title. You can add links at the top and bottom of a Static item to give readers a handy way to move to the previous/next part of the text. With an Upgraded+ paid membership, Book items are available. Those do allow multiple sections of a text to be grouped together in one item. See Book from Writing.Com 101  for details.
