This depends on the type of contest. Some, such as the Official site contests, take entries through a survey. Most other contests take entries through posting in a forum. You would have to read the specific rules of a contest to see just how to enter.

If the contest is a message forum, you would create a post just like you did here and then link your item in the body. "Invalid Item"  can show you how to link an item and you can practice there.
