100 Years OF Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, a Nobel Prize winner.
This is a tough read. The words are not mountainous, but its style drives me crazy. It is an additive style, somewhat hyperbolic, and difficult to have empathy with. I am half way through, we're already through most of the family tree, and there is no protagonist. It's like everybody is an antagonist. My club discusses it in two days, so gotta push on. :(
