A Pedestrian Journey by John Cochrane RN.
I have not finished this book yet. I find it amazing I have never heard of this mans attempt, to travel from London across Siberia to Okotsk in Russia on foot. He seems to have been a lieutenant in the Royal Navy who really enjoyed long walks.
I still travel using his basic belief that most people are wiling to help a traveller. His journey begins in January 1820.
Some my find the language a little difficult. He uses measures of distance from the time, but there is glossary at the back along with a map front and back.
