Is it just this particular item, or does this also happen with other items in your port?

Did you create this particular item using the drag & drop/complex option?
How you would know -- in the regular Edit screen, the Item Body area would have a message instead of your writing = the content of the item.
If so, you cannot edit that type of item on the site. To edit it, you would edit the original file on your computer and re-do the drag & drop procedure to update the copy of the item here.
