Re: OT Retreiving responses from reviews
Greets,

I believe your "Reviews" page's "Given" reviews area indicates whether or not you received a response to your review.

Do keep in mind it is certainly going to depend on who you review and where you find them from. More on that:

If your goal is solely to receive a response from an author about a review you sent them, then you'll want to be sure you're only reviewing active members who've been online recently. There are a lot of authors specifically seeking reviews on the "Please Review" page and posting in review forums looking for reviews. Also, active reviewers who are themselves reviewing (check the "Reviewers" page from the left column to see who's publicly reviewing) are more likely to respond to a review.

While not a sure thing, those are just some of the ways to seek out those authors that most likely to respond. Obviously if you pick some random item and the author hasn't logged in recently or doesn't log in often, you're far less likely to get a response. Reviewing free members is a good thing to do karma wise, but it's not likely to net you a GP thank you because they probably don't have many to begin with.

On the other hand, we have always touted reviewing as something you should do first and foremost for yourself to better your own writing. IMHO, reviewing is the best writing exercise available to members and it doesn't cost anything to do it. Reviewing in the genre you like to write in and the type of writing you yourself like to write helps you hone and refine your own skills by analyzing what other writers put out there. Reviewing items in this way that may not net you the largest amount of responses, but choosing what to review by looking at the writing rather than if the author is more or less likely to respond will yield you the best personal rewards.

Best,
~~SM
