To add to what StoryMaster said, If an item has an AutoReward, you're unlikely to get a response after a review because many consider the AutoReward GPs to be an adequate response. If GPs are the reason you review, your best option is to join a group that rewards all qualifying reviews affiliated with that group, through the review rewards feature. If interaction with the author is important to you, your best option is to review for a paid-reviewing group where that kind of post-review interaction is expected. I've only seen this stressed for reviews of long works. It's also counterproductive to assume that everyone else here is just like you -- ie., that every member is here to explicitly work at improving their writing. Many are here first of all to enjoy writing and interacting with their readers/other writers, and there's nothing wrong with that. If you want your review recipients to react the way you would ( "appropriately"), you need to be reviewing people who have the same approach to writing as you do, which means reviewing within a compatible review exchange group. These groups are less likely to use public reviews or the review reward feature because they consider that the appropriate compensation is to be getting comparable reviews in exchange. Members of these groups are also more likely to keep their WIPs access restricted to private/passkey or group-only. Hope that helps.
