The Carpetbaggers is written by Harold Robbins and was published in 1961. The book I have is the 28th printing in 1964. That is before I was born. The pages are an orange-brown along the edges and beige in the middle. At page 448 & 449, the book is split, meaning, it's in two pieces. Hopefully, I won't lose the last 240 pages. That would really suck. The cover is still in tact, but barely.
I've not read anything by Robbins, nor do I know what this book is about. I didn't read the jacket; I just decided to dive in. At the bottom of the cover it says "NOW A GREAT MOTION PICTURE." My eyes will probably never see the movie. I don't dig films like I used to. I've only read the first chapter, but I like the author's style. It sucks me in. This is going to be enjoyable.....I hope.
