Hello there and Wecome (a few months ago)

As for the use of the site, it depends on what you're wanting to get out of it. Some use it more for reading/reviewing, others are more focused on their own stories and use the site as a place to store their work but aren't as focused on feedback in the given moment. There are many ways to use the site and personal preference along with what you put into the community will have an affect on what is received in return.

When it comes to how many reviews you get, one thing is to remember how many people are on the site and how many items that equates to overall as options for people to read. This is my main portfolio, as I do have a secondary account as well, and I have almost 300 items. That is even after deleting over the years as I've been a member of WDC for over 10 years now. And I'm just one person. Some have far less in their portfolio and some have more. Some of what gets reviewed will be luck of the draw. I get random reviews on some of my poems, for example. Other times, I enter contests and activities, which will give a couple of reviews.

However, if you're looking for something specific, I would check out some of the forums and groups instead. Maybe hop on scroll (the site's form of instant messenger) or try out the chat rooms (if people get more active with that again it is a useful social tool) and get to know some people. You might find a group that you can work together with in reviewing and writing, depending on everyone's goals.
