Creativity should be fostered and encouraged in the classroom. A writing teacher's job is to provide the opportunity and the guidance needed for developing the student's skills as a writer. Researching and writing improves skills that go beyond just writing. The skills that a student learns will help him in many differ contexts. Learning to research and write will benefit the student in becoming career and college ready. Just like practicing a sport helps the athlete improve, writing on a daily basis helps the student writer improve. It is important that the student writes everyday. Learning to play an instrument takes time and energy, and so does writing. Reading and conversation improves a man, but writing can make him a genius. Countries have resolved to declare independence as a result of the written word. Treaties, constitutions, declarations have all been written by someone. Each student must be expected to write everyday. Each student must be given the opportunity to write everyday. It is the teacher's role to guide and instruct the student in the correct way to construct sentences, paragraphs, and essays. The student must come prepared to write. He or she must have an open mind about writing. He or she must be willing to actively improve his or her writing each day. He or she must strive for writing independence.
