| This Friday, April 22, is Earth Day, so it seemed only appropriate that this would be the theme of this newsletter. With all sorts of talk of being Eco-friendly all around us, a moment to reflect on the beauty that we've witnessed in nature really seems like a wonderful idea ...and what better way to share that experience with others than through poetry? Nature itself just feels poetic to me... When I see an open field instead of an ugly road, I just feel so inspired. Some scenes are just breathtakingly awe-inspiring. Even as a kid, if I felt sad or uninspired, I would go and sit in the open field by my parents' house and the words would just flow. Nature just has the effect on some of us, I guess. |

Hello again, you perdy WdC poets and poetesses!  Been a while; No? Where ya been, buddy? {e:wink|{e:laugh}
As writers of poetry, I think that we all have special moments of connectedness with Mother Nature. Sure, not all poetry is inspired by nature and, yeah, I can't say that we've all been inspired by nature, but I think that it's safe to say most of us have at some point. Come on... think... there's got to be that time that seashell sent your muse on overdrive or that tree telepathically sent you four lines of a poem... maybe it was a complete scene; a full vision that you passed by in a car that just took your breath away. Close your eyes and just think and envision. I'm sure there's something in that brilliant mind that comes up when you think of your favorite vision of nature. Beach, woods, mountains, sky, open fields, pretty gardens... The list of what could inspire you in nature is truly as endless. (For those that think outside of the box: Maybe it's nature in a cosmic way... maybe the craters of the moon and how you can sometimes see the moon's face is what gets your lips smiling...).
We all know (I think) that Haiku is meant to have a central focus on nature, but any poetry form easily lends itself to a nature base. The simplicity of haiku is something that I love and how a writer can capture so much in only seventeen syllables. The image that can be created with those extra filler words (a, the, of, etc...) is something that amazes me every time.
So, on this Earth Day, what form will YOU use to show your moment(s) of connectedness with nature? (I'm thinking haiku, personally...).  |

For those that are lucky enough (in my opinion...) to still have winter clinging to their piece of nature, this poem is sure to bring you right into spring! Tornado Day does a beautiful job of making the scene of warmth come to life for her readers.

Looking for a getaway and some inspiration no matter what the weather is doing outside? Well, this poem by Julie D could be just what you're looking for; her words easily take you away to her paradise and leave you feeling refreshed, relaxed, and inspired.
Nature is all around us; connecting it with it is truly like a stroll through the park as typingrhyme proves in this poem!
As proved in this wonderful poem, sometimes it's not the beauty of nature that captures us, but it's sheer power and force.
Well, of course I had to throw a haiku in here, right? Hunters Moon's haiku is a perfect choice too, I think. It really took me away --and is about one of my favorite things about Earth; truly, I think the list of things that can rival the beauty of the moon can be counted on one hand.
Ya know that aforementioned list of rivals for the moon? Well, a quite nook in the woods, sitting by a little stream is definitely high on that list for me and Pat's poem shows the power of a moment in such a spot beautifully!
Now that you've got your muse running in circles with excitement, why not submit what you write and try for some extra Gift Points or an Awardicon for your work of art (Oh! And a Merit Badge).
