Poem I wrote for my wife.
Saved

Down into the darkness I fall
The pitiful depths of my soul
Reaching for something to grab hold of
To stop this perilous plunge
Suddenly caught by forces unknown
Slowly rising back to the surface
Your face gradually coming into focus
And I realize it’s your love bringing me up
At last I grow calm
My body goes numb
And the feeling of hopelessness leaves me
Knowing it will get better
Just having you to hold
The days seem brighter
Sweet aromas fill the air
No more will there be misery
Inauspiciousness has fallen into extinction
Hope and joy are restored
At the simplest thought of your name
I once was caught in desolation
Despair and pain were my only true friends
But I will no longer be consumed by their flames
For I have been pulled from the ashes
By your love

Dedicated to my loving wife, Nicki
