This is a poem I wrote about a girl I knew. We've been friends, lovers, and now enemies.
Yesterday we were enemies
Cold as the fiercest winters,
The fear and hatred I saw in your eyes
Will never escape my suffering soul.
But today I say we sit together
And gather the memories ‘round,
For tonight we are not enemies.
Tonight we are but human.

There were the nights I lay awake
Praying, wishing for your forgiveness
There were the days I clenched my fists
Campaigning on your downfall.
I remember the old and dusty days
When I even felt I loved you,
But tonight we are not lovers.
Tonight we are but friends.

Still, the horrors refused to end
For her, you could not even pretend
Why couldn't you believe the horrible truth?
You gave her up for evidence? Abandoned her for proof?
Now, the hatred for you flows
From her and I each day it grows
Though part of my heart feels soft for you,
I have no explanation, that's just what I do.

Graceful beauty and happy smiles
Hate-filled wars and tear-drenched miles
But dry your eyes and soften your soul
For it is time to say goodbye.
Goodbye to those old squabbles
Goodbye to all the anger
For tonight, you are no longer a foe.
I see you as you are, my friend.
Goddess.
