Freeform poem about holidays, a temporary distraction from real life.
Wisp of white on blue,
Glowing sand
Like biscuit grains.
An aeroplane glides down,
Landing with silent cheers.

This azure sky
Makes me smile,
Calms the darkness
In my heart-
A rare emotion
Thanks to serotonin
Or perhaps an excess
Of vitamin D.

Tiny tapas on
Terraces
Bleached with sun,
Bordered with palm trees.
Rich red rioja
On rooftop bars.
I am sweltering,
Drowning my sorrows
In heat and happiness,
Skin brown like a berry,
A wealthy shade of tanned.

This is what I call enjoyment;
Not making babies and
Watching them grow
Or clambering
On the property ladder.

I am a traveller,
A wandering soul.
Trapped in this World
Like a fish in a bowl.

The never satisfied girl
Living this paperback life.
A world in a suitcase
Fit for a mermaid queen.
