Prompt 9 for 10 days of Spring Fantasy
Light Is Provided

Early one morning, during her first of her many flights planned for the day, Angelica, Queen of Fairyland came upon a small creature tangled up in a patch of honeysuckle. At first, Angelica was hesitant to approach the creature but being Queen she knew it was her responsibility to keep all under her charge safe from harm.

She called out "Excuse me, do you know where you are?" The creature shook violently and began to cry.

Angelica inched closer and realized it was just a baby. Looking closer, Angelica knew the poor creature was in no shape to do her or her fairies any harm.

After helping the creature from the confines of the honeysuckle, she asked him "How did you come to be stranded here?"

The creature sniffed and began talking "My family and I were out walking in the dark and came too close to the cliffs. We all started to fall when my dad threw me up here to save me. None of this would have happened if there had been some light to guide our way. It was dark and we got lost."

Angelica knew what this creature was saying to be true. All the fairies had lights that glowed in the dark to help them along the way, while other creatures who were unfortunate enough not to have night vision were victims of the dark

Angelica took the baby back to Fairyland. Once everyone got a look at the baby, they all became excited. Every Fairy present
knew something big was about to happen because they had never known Angelica to bring anyone back to Fairyland.

After getting the baby taken care of, Angelica donned her most impressive gown, promised the baby she would help him and left to go find Mr. Sun.

It didn't take long for Mr. Sun to make an appearance. Angelica knew as well as all the fairies that when Mr. Sun appeared, especially at the beginning of Spring, he was partly responsible for the beautiful flowers they all enjoyed.

Mr. Sun asked "Angelica, my dear, to what do I owe the pleasure of a visit from you?"

Angelica explained to Mr. Sun what had happened to the baby and his family and finished by asking Mr. Sun "Is there anything you can do to help others so this will not happen again?"

Mr. Sun thought for a moment and said "I have an ideal. Give me some time to get things in order and if my ideal works, the dark will not be so black and travelers won't be afraid to go out at night."

Before Angelica made it halfway home, Mr. Sun had already summoned his brother Moon. Moon wasn't overly excited because Sun was always getting compliments on the great job he was doing and Moon just stood in Sun's shadow, resentment growing stronger each day.

Sun knew Moon felt some kind of way towards him. As Moon approached, Sun noticed Moon looked gaunt and pale. Sun hoped Moon would accept his offer and Moon would be happy and feel as important as Sun did.

Sun started out by saying "Moon, my brother, a problem has come to my attention and you are the only one I trust to fix it."

Moon looked at Sun suspiciously asking "Are you joking? Have you gotten too hot and lost your mind? April Fools Day has already passed."

Sun shook his head replying "I know in the past we have played jokes on each other but this time I am serious. Before you say anything else let me explain. As you know the night is black and this makes traveling in the dark dangerous. I propose to you
that I will give you the power of light along with some stars and you will glow at night to aid travelers. Think hard before you answer, with this job there is a price to be paid. It is a twentyfour hour job. While I am shining on one side of the world you will be shining on the other side. Do you think you have the stamina? Are you willing to help?".

Moon kept quiet and appeared to be fully concentrating on the task at hand. After a time, Moon began talking "My brother, Sun, I am honored that you have chosen me for this position with heavy responsibility. I know I can do it, I want to do it. with your blessing, I accept."

So that very evening, Sun gifted Moon with light and stars. Later that night, Moon rose high up in the sky looking robust and glowing with pride.

To show the baby that all would be well, Angelica took the baby out into the meadow and showed him the light that would guide him coming from the moon.
