Life has its twists and turns, along with ups and downs.
PATIENCE

Patience is a virtue, my mother once said to me.
It seems like yesterday, I was only twenty-three.
Now time has passed so rapidly, all at once I'm old,
and patience does not come easy, or so I am told.

I've tried to make a go of life, working for a living.
I tried to make the best of things, always giving.
Raised my children with no regrets and no fears,
Chin up when all I could do was dry their tears.

Laughter kept me going, I always sang a song.
Looked for the good in the world, not the wrong.
Today I look back and thank my lucky stars
for all we had together, never mind the scars.

I found my eyesight failing, not a happy time.
Surgery was the answer, but I will be "fine".
I tried having patience, it didn't help very much
so I turned to chocolate therapy, a nice touch!

I've been snowed in and stayed home each day
and all the pounds I gained were here to stay.
So I'm going to eat less and try veggies too,
My Mother's talk of virtue will see me through!
