Thoughts in the evening of life.
WINTER OF LIFE

I had a weird dream last night;
It did leave me perplexed.
I wondered what it did mean;
By it I was distressed.

I dreamt of trees and hill tops
Draped in a snow-white sheet
But amidst this vast expanse
There smiled a rose discreet.

Its stem had become too weak;
It shook in mildest breeze.
Resting on prickly thorns its
Petals were ill at ease.

Each gust of wind tore away
A petal from its frame,
As if to remind it that
Soon would be gone its flame.

Then the wind started screaming
And I woke up from sleep.
In the winter of my life
It had a meaning deep.
