Summary of this Book...
The Greatest Salesman in the World

Who is this salesman?

Some of you will know. Those who don't are not likely to guess. I haven't decided at this point if I am going to tell you. In the book, it is not revealed until the final chapter.

The book tells us the tale of a young man with big dreams. This young man starts off well. He asks for what he wants and his asking is rewarded but things don't go exactly as he hoped and dreamed.

All that stands between Hafid and what he desires is one robe. One seamless robe.

Hafid hopes to become a great salesman like the man who took him in when he was young. This man is willing to help him. Willing to give him guidance.

All Hafid had to do to earn this rich opportunity to learn at the feet of his master was to sell this one robe.

How hard could that be?

It was one of the finest robes from one of the best weavers. They were no robes of higher quality to be had.

Surely, he could easily sell this one precious robe very quickly and returned post haste, ready to start his lessons.

He KNEW he wanted to be a salesman. All he had to do now was prove himself.

The first part of the book introduces us to Hafid and his adoptive father and master. We see the agreement they strike: Hafid is to sell this one robe and then his adopted father will give him the help and guidance he needs to become a great salesman.

Hafid is warned that the real work of becoming a great salesman will fall to him to do himself. No one can do it for him. As he prepares to leave to find a buyer for the robe, Pathros, gives him one word of advice to keep in mind always as he drives to reach his goals:

"Failure will never overtake you if your determination to succeed is strong enough."

Interesting that I should have added those words when I was trying to succeed at Nano Wrimo 2014. Had I started sooner with this level of commitment and effort, I would have been much closer to the finish line.

I didn't start on time. Many days, I did not write at all. I feared I would fail.

Hafid failed...

...or so he thought.

Where did the robe take him?

Who ended up with the robe?

Were his travels fruitful?

These questions I will leave unanswered and encourage you to read Og Mandino's book for yourself so you can find the answers and much more...

Further Comments...

This product review was written as a part of my writing project as a Nano Wrimo Rebel in 2014…

I did reach my goal of 50,000 words that month but tbe quality of those words was not good. Lots of editing was necessary after that fact. I hope to be more consistent in any future endeavors.
