Summary of this Book...

The Greatest Miracle in World
         by Og Mandino

Have you ever seen a person with a tiny piece of cloth fastened to their sleeve with a safety pin? No? Neither have I.

If I did ever see a person with a tiny tag pinned to their sleeve, I would ask them if they were reading The God Memorandum every day.

The God Memorandum? You thought this product review was about The Greatest Miracle in World, didn't you? Well, it is but the story contained in The Greatest Miracle in World is simply a back drop for the real message: God's memorandum to us.

To be honest, I did not think memorandums were quite so long. Maybe memos are short and memorandum are longer.

Sorry, I digress. I am here to tell you about The Greatest Miracle in World.

I am here to tell you about the book with that title. Og Mandino wrote the book to tell all of us about this amazing miracle.

In his story, we met Simon. He declares himself to be a ragpicker of sorts. He rescues folks from their own living hells and helps them start afresh.

How does he do this?

Well, as you may have guessed, he does it with the memorandum.

First, he extends a hand of friendship and then, when the time is right, he gives them the memorandum along with instructions as to how to use it so as to get the maximum benefit from it.

That's where the safety pin and scrap of cloth come in.

We get to enjoy getting to know Simon along with Og as we sit with them and discuss life and its highs and lows in Simon's livingroom over a glass of sherry.

I have never had a real glass of sherry but I have said many glasses with Og and Simon and the warmth of their friendship. As I write this product review, I hear them calling me, inviting me to one again sit and ponder the meaning of life.

I find myself wanting to count ahead a hundred days on the calendar and circle it, attach a scrap of cloth to my sleeve and began again to remember...

What do I want to remember?

I want to remember that we, you and me and all of us are miracles - created by a loving God - special, one of a kind - blessed with powers and abilities we have only begun to use.

Og Mandino's book,The Greatest Miracle in World, serves to remind us that we are indeed blessed.

I think I will grab a cup of chamomile tea and curl up with Og's book tonight.

Will you join me?
This type of Book is good for...

Meeting Simon . . .  [E]
An encounter with a fictional character written for the Writer's Cramp.
by ruwth

The above is an item in my port that highlights Og Mandino's book and main character, Simon.

As you can see by the tagline, I wrote this as an entry for the Writer's Cramp. It's a story about Og Mandino's main character from The Greatest Miracle In The World: Simon. He is the fictional character I chose to meet that day.

There is more behind this story though. That day in July 2011, my day began with bad news. The beginning of my fictional story - the gal wrenching pain ( emotional pain) was real. As in the story, I often choose to read one of my favorite stories at times like that, escaping the pain by losing myself in places like Simon's livingroom.

In July 2011, I chose a different route. I chose to take my mind of my troubles by immersing myself in my own fictional story and I wrote Meeting Simon that day.

Little did I know how much that story would come to mean in my life over the next few months. You see, Daddy died that day.

There is a way that meeting Simon on the day of Daddy's death brought me comfort. Over the next few months, I revisited my own story many times. It was a source of comfort to me then. It is still a source of comfort.

I did not really meet Simon but I do believe God, in His mercy met me at my point of need. I do not have words to express how very grateful I am for that.

I love Him because He first loved me. *Heart*
