Summary of this Book...
Book II of The Reckoners.

David, unlikely hero of book I, returns with Prof. Tia and SOME of the original cast. Following on from Mitosis (bridging novella, aka Reckoners 1.5), David et al follow the Epic Firefight to Babylon Restored.

In book I, we discover that Epics are humans with superpowers - and most of them are evil. The Reckoners are a group of resistance fighters trying to bring down the Epics and save humanity (or at least the humanity residing in North America), with the covert help of Prof. an Epic fighting his nature in order to remain good.

Regalia, a High Epic, has flood the borough of Manhattan and renamed it Babylon Restored. Since then, however, her rule has been remarkably benign. So why has she enlisted the supremely evil Obliteration and turned her attention towards destroying her own city? And WHAT is her connection to Prof? David has to work out the link, engage with a new cell of Reckoners and convince them that working with Epics might prove beneficial, and that Firefight is the Epic to start with.
Even though she betrayed them, moved to work with Regalia and killed a member of the new cell.

I especially liked...
David's appalling metaphors and similes - it takes a good writer to write good metaphors. It takes a truly GREAT one to come up with the atrocious lines David says. Washing machine at a gunfight anyone?
