I don't usually review movies, but this one has been stuck in my mind since I first watched it a week ago. It is a haunting type of story.

Richard Burton is the narrator and star. He plays a psychiatrist who is trying to help a young boy whose unhealthy obsession with horses leads to permanently disabling the animals at the stable where he works.

The movie consists of stunningly beautiful film-making, top-notch writing, and Academy Award nominated acting (Burton was robbed, to be frank). It is also a very disturbing, unsettling type of story... but unforgettable.

People who enjoy well-crafted cinema and are not squeamish. It is an excellent film in every way, but it is definitely shocking and unsettling and bizarre. Nothing shocks me, and several scenes from the film left me speechless. A good "I can't believe that just happened in a major box office release" speechless, but words escaped me nonetheless.

The story is amazingly twisted. Sex and religion and psychosis all rolled together in a truly strange but fantastic plot.

The imagery immediately inspired me to write several poems, so clearly, it is a vivid sort of film.
