One man's flaw is another's strength. It's all in the perspective, my friend... |

What is the proper term when the word in the middle can be used with the other words before and after? overdraft + draft-dodgers = over-draft-dodgers. I would ask Google but it's worthless for these types of questions. 'Smog' is a 'blended word from smoke+fog... so it isn't that. And it isn't zeugma. Is it a type of syllepsis? |
KÃ¥re Enga in Montana - You're right with Before & After, because that's what they call one of the structures for puzzles on Wheel of Fortune, just as you described. I tried to hunt for more, but no luck. |
Had to share this thing that happened today. My sinuses are acting up. As I have no other symptoms besides a mild headache, I figure it's the inch-thick pollen that's all over. But, as I spent last week traveling and being among (shudder) people, maybe it isn't. Whatever it is, though, I wanted the good drugs. But in order to get the good drugs, you have to go out among people, stand in line at the pharmacy, and show your ID so you can get put on the national "this guy is probably cooking meth" list. I was in no mood to do all that, what with my nose running faster than Usain Bolt. But my desire for the good drugs finally outweighed my inherent laziness (compounded by lack of sleep due to it being impossible to breathe properly), and I ventured out to the pharmacy, wearing a face mask for the sake of other people, just in case it's not pollen. My face mask depicts a photorealistic cat nose and open mouth, complete with fangs. I'm standing there waiting for someone to sell me the good drugs, when this little girl in a shopping cart sees me, wearing the cat mask, with my thick, long, light brown hair (probably a mess since I didn't have the energy to deal with it) cascading down both sides of my face like a mane. The little girl pointed at me, a smile brightening her face. "Look, it's a lion! It's a lion!" Made my day. |
