Happy St Patrick's Day! Today all the world is Irish. (Just for the day.) This year I'm restraining myself for health reasons and not having a Guinness. So you can have one for me!!!

*Shamrock* Happy St. Patrick's Day, Pumpkin ! *Shamrock*
Today is Justin Bieber's birthday (1994). It was also March 1, 1882 when Yellowstone became the nation's first (and the world's) national park.

Yellowstone was one of the National Parks, I've wanted to go see. Yosemite is another one and that's Northern California. I've lived here all my life and never been to the National Park. I've been to Point Loma National Monument, Sequoia National forest and Joshua Tree National Park.
It's Leap Year, so women can propose marriage to a man. I've always confused it with Sadie Hawkins Day, from the All Capp comic strip, in which women can ask single men on a date or to dance. Now I've learned that Leap Year Day is also known as Bachelor Day!

I'd argue that it's 2024 so a woman can propose marriage to whomever she'd like whenever she'd like.
It's Ash Wednesday. It is unusual and odd for Valentines and Ashes to mix on the same day. However, for the believer, those ashes lead to the ultimate love, one that excels romance.
I once had a friend from Punxsutawney who said they had groundhog recipes. Then a few years later, my father killed a groundhog in the garden, took it immediately in the truck to my grandfather's neighbor who considered it good eating. He dressed it right away.
Decades later I have learned to hate groundhogs. They eat my tomatoes and flowers, leave big holes in the yard for you to trip in, and have eaten their way through the lattice covering the foundation of my sheds. They are a menace.
Whether he saw his shadow today depends on the light from the TV camera.
Have a happy one anyway.
Well it's also Imbolc and Candlemas. *Smile*
I love groundhogs, but not to eat. They eat your garden and dig in your yard because we’ve taken away their natural habitat. They do what they must to survive, just like anyone would. *Peace*

Aennaytte: Free & Wild in GoT - It is Time.

I've always wanted to say that.
I heartily recommend for all you with Christmas spirit to check out a free class on Dickens' A Christmas Carol. If interested, go to Hillsdale.edu/online. All the classes listed are free and without credit. This one is only 6 sessions. I have only done 2 so far, and they reminded me what a master of words Mr. Dickens was.
You can take the quizzes and the final exam over and over until you have perfect scores. Probably no need for such a familiar story, and the professor is so easy to follow. It's a fresh look at something we think we know well.
I used to have a crazy dog. She loved eating Christmas ornaments! (She had tinselitis.)

A salute to all you veterans! The rest of us appreciate you.
Oct. 29 and it was hot here today. We had trunk or treat in the church parking lot, and the adults were wearing shorts! Last weekend we wore coats.
Have you heard? A new show on Hulu will be The Golden Bachelor. The first man will be a 71 year old widower. The trailer makes it look like they make a little laugh at themselves. Can't wait to see how it plays out.
Ha, not sure it will work... Are the women of his generation? If so, I don't see it lasting past a second episode... let the claims of exploitation and misogyny ring ... when the financially stable 71-year-old agrees to a date with a gal even half his age. Will the theme song be that one about "Not being as good as he once was...?" But then if the only fans of the show are old guys with money Now that's the base a marketing executive dreams of.
Sounds fun. Can't wait to play the budget video game version of the show.

And if you think that's a stupid idea, it is, but there's also this: https://www.amazon.com/Bachelor-Videogame-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B002W5GIWU
Thanks anonymous for the prank. I like it.
The good news is the smoke thinned out overnight and is continuing to do so. This morning the code went from purple to yellow, which is still cautionary, but a threat only to people with breathing issues. As of right now, it is considered moderate. It doesn't smell as bad outdoors. Swim practice for kids is called off one more day. Should be normal tomorrow.

Thanks for the explanation, buddhangela's Psychotic Break!

So, after your rant about the wildfires not being Canadian because they don't have passports (the probably burned them up), I'm guessing you don't agree that Canadian geese are Canadian, either. *Laugh* They're merely "geese that sometimes live in Canada." Are they snowbirds since they come South for the winter? *Rolling* Yeah, I crack me up. *Bigsmile* Though probably because I need more sleep. I've been up WAY too late a lot lately, between WdC and trying to fix all the issues with the son of my friend who died. He's not making good life decisions right now. *Frown*

I do hope the fires are put out quickly! What a horrible tragedy for everyone! Good luck with your air quality, at least in the house! Maybe getting that plastic that you can seal windows in winter with will help? I think it's perfectly removeable without any damage when it's no longer needed, but I didn't look too deeply into it. I just saw it at Lowe's or Home Depot once. But if you put it on windows and doors you don't use, it might help keep the smoke out even better? Good luck!
*Facepalm* They aren't Canadian Geese, they're Canada Geese. They don't have passports, either.

*Hug1**Frown**Hug2* Sorry about the kid you're trying to help - and condolences for your friend. I know it's been a long haul and so much suffering on all fronts. I'm glad she's at peace *Heartp* *Dove*
Thanks for the condolences. *Heart*

Canada geese? Sounds weird to me, but maybe if I focus on thinking of them like Canada Dry... *Think* *Laugh*

There's still a thick gray smoky sky over my small town in Central Virginia. Whoever would have thought smoke from Canada would come this far? Waiting for winds to blow it to sea.
