It's Friday EVE at the little library!

Thank goodness! The stuff has hit the fan. My boss has taken a job at another library. The board made changes to the hours without consulting us. Of course, for the 3rd year, we will have no air conditioning. Summer reading is coming up and I can't do it all by myself. The board certainly has no intention of being here.
They may have no choice. I'm actively looking at employment where my sister lives. I can pay my part of the bills without it. I just would like the extra cushioning. My sister is aware and okay with me moving on up.
I'm done with a board who has no desire to properly steward this library. All they want is someone to dop several million dollars in their lap for a shiny new library that they can't even manage. This building has structural issues that they refuse to address.
Can you tell I'm not happy? It's sad really. Once I leave I doubt it will remain open for long.

Ok. Off my soap box...

Gracie was a lot calmer last night and this morning. I just want to love on her and rub her big ol' belly. *Smile*

Have a gorgeous day y'all!

It seems like it was a long time coming! So glad you found something else near family. You'll be happier I'm sure.
When I worked in my library, certain board members tried to micro-manage things. Thank goodness the rest of the board pulled them back. 😉
Happy Tuesday from the little library!

My best friend is hanging in there. They discovered that she is having brain seizures. She has been moved to a level 1 hospital. I am cautiously optimistic.

Pet sitting went well. These two are typically very good.

Gracie and I are still adjusting to one another. She is getting better at "down." She's way to big to be jumping on people. I do have scratches and such from nails and puppy teeth. She has her shots next week and I plan to have her nails trimmed as well. I love to just watch her. She's still growing into her size and stumbles about when she gets rushed. She's both a challenge and a joy. *HeartP*

Have a gorgeous day y'all!

It's Thursday at the little library!

It's quiet here but life is a bit overwhelming right now.

Gracie is a good girl. She is all puppy!

My best friend is in the ICU. She went in with e-coli and an inflamed colon. The infection has gotten worse. She is confused and weak. I talked to her husband this morning. The doctors sound encouraging.

Also a close friend's mom is in ICU. She's not doing well at all.

Prayers are most welcome.

I have a 3 day pet sitting gig this weekend. It will be the first time I've left Gracie alone overnight. I don't trust her, yet, to be out of her crate. This place is close to home so I'll go home twice a day to care for, and spend time with, my girl

Have a gorgeous day y'all!

Odd thought... Texas/Oklahoma is known for severe storms. How does Gracie cope? And the other pets?
Kåre Enga in Udon Thani - We haven't had a very bad storm, yet. She has been good so far.
Happy Tuesday from the little library!

Did anyone have the opportunity to watch the solar eclipse? I had 99.3% totality. It was incredible!

Miss Gracie is doing well. It won't be long before she outgrows her crate. I can't believe how much she's grown in a mere few weeks! She won't stay still enough for me to get a good photo of her sweet face. I will prevail though! *PawPrints*

I made a quick trip to my sister's on Sunday. I had some eclipse glasses for her and some of her coworkers. We had lunch, shopped at Ross (I'm down another size in pants!), and I headed home. There is a German market type place on the way home. I never have any money to spend but this time I did. Oh my! They have so many baked goods (streudel, breads, pies), Sausages, cheeses, some canned goods. I left with a piece of cake, a single size sugar free apple pie, a jar of sundried tomato stuffed olives, and a block of cheddar cheese. I love cheese and this is the best I've tasted. Everything is made locally specifically for this store. It's a little pricey but if I can get good food it's worth it.

Last night I had storms, a little small hail. Right now it's raining and there is severe weather expected this evening. Just another day in Texas.

Y'all have a gorgeous day!

Where in Texas are you? We were at 100% totality out here in the Athens TX area. The eclipse was interesting, but what I found amazing was how the animals in our area reacted to it. All the birds were silent through the eclipse and did not begin to sing again until after it was over. The area dogs were quiet until the darkness, then they began barking crazily in unison - and the cacophony stopped as soon as the light returned. Our two dogs, on the other hand, barked until the darkness and then became quiet. (Strange, as our German Shepherd almost never shuts up) The squirrels were less skittish, coming down from their trees and exploring the yard even with our dogs back there. The animals knew that something was off. The entire thing was quite the experience.
LeJenD' Looking Up - I'm about 25 miles northwest of Ft. Worth. *Smile*
Happy Friday EVE from the little library!

I've been off the past day and a half due to a stomach bug. Ugh!

While I've been home, I've really been studying Gracie. Kinda longish body, wrinkled forehead, coloring, paws as big as my palm. I believe she's a Mastiff mix. Holy cow! This will be interesting! She was super playful this morning. She's in the puppy, everything-is-a-chew toy stage. I don't want to be a chew toy!

Anyway, just checking in. Have a gorgeous day y'all!

Spray your skin and clothes with Bitter Apple. Not all dogs find it to be a deterrent, but most do. Just be careful to not get it in your own mouth, LOL Make sure there are plenty of chew toys around and redirect her attention to them when necessary. Good luck! *FingersCrossed* You might have to get the extra-heavy duty chew toys for that big of a dog. I know I did for my American Bull Dog.
GeminiGem of House Lannister - I bought her several large chews. It has helped. I agree on the toys themselves. I don't think she'll be gentle with her toys. She's a rowdy girl!
Happy Tuesday from the little library!

I'm learning more of Gracie's personality. She follows my lead a lot. I couldn't understand why she wouldn't leave the porch. I realized it was because I walked out and promptly sat in my chair. So I moved a small, sittable table outside the porch and sat out there. She realized it was okay and explored.
We're still working on potty training. I have some ideas there.
She's a chewer and loves to play.
I let her on the bed. She laid down for a little bit. She was fascinated by the TV!

We had some rough weather last night. Fortunately the worst of the hail missed me. There was larger stuff south and east of me. It's just spring time in Texas.

Y'all have a gorgeous day!

She sounds adorable, and she is undoubtedly a lucky pup to have found you.
Awww, Gracie sounds lovely!!! I have a Chiweenie and she is such a blessing to me. Enjoy your new pup!
I miss the storms. Here? 104 yesterday. Relentless heat.
Happy Friday Eve from the little library!

Gracie Mae is coming out of her shell a little. I haven't had a puppy in 9 years. I forgot how curious and how much they love to chew! She does have toys and one chewy but she wants to taste the rest of my place. *Laugh* At this point, she isn't interested on being on the bed with me or being held. I guess I'll have to get in the floor with her. Meet her where she is. That's okay. We're still getting to know each other.
She has started smiling when I love on her. *Smile*
Her collar came in. I ordered a Medium since she's fairly big. Nope, too big. If I ordered a Small, it wouldn't be in until Sunday. I bought her a small collar this morning at the dollar store. She'll outgrow it soon.

Y'all have an absolutely Gorgeous day!

Aw, I'm so happy you got a new furbaby!! I love the name Gracie Mae. That's what I call my granddaughter. Her real name is Juliet Grace.
Enjoy your new baby. Y'all look out for each other 💖💞
Gracie Mae is such a cute name. I am sure that this is the beginning of a great friendship! *Delight*
Happy Wednesday from the little library!

We have a name! I ran through the list I had, no reaction. I was on the phone with my sister. Puppy had her back to me. Sister suggested Gracie Mae. I said it, she turned to face me and her ears went up! Gracie Mae it is! *HeartP*

She had a great 1st night. I have a throw rug that she's claimed. She took a nap on that. I decided to see what happened if I left her out. When she was ready to go night-night, she went into her crate and curled up there. She wanted to play twice during the night but when I wouldn't she went right back to her crate and slept. She snores! *Laugh*

She understands "no". I think she'll be easy to train. When she's had accidents in the house, she'll show me where.
I can't wait to get off work so I can get home to her!

Oh, I ordered her a collar. It's pink with daisies all over it! I haven't had a girl since several years before I moved, some 8 years ago. It's fun to find all the girly dog stuff!

Have a gorgeous day y'all!

Congrats on the new fur baby! I love her name. What breed is she?
Yes! I have a Gracie Ginger. I made Merit badge of her. Gracies in my opinion are good girls. My Gracie walks on the leash like a pro and I didn't even have to train her to do it....
dragonwoman - she's a mixed breed. They said she was a stray.

Happy Tuesday from the little library!

Did I say "happy"? Why yes I did.

I have an announcement...It's a GIRL!!!!! *HeartP*

After a disappointing weekend at area shelters, I met my new dog! She was shown at my local shelter. I met her yesterday. She doesn't have zoomies, she lopes! She's laid back and has big personality! I was looking for a small dog. This sweet girl is going to be medium to large. She's only 2 months old but she's smart. Oh, she wasn't available until this morning. I was waiting outside the door 30 minutes before they opened. She's a mixed breed, brown. If we're friends on FB, I have her picture up there. The shelter called her Bitsy but I think we'll have a name change, As soon as I know, I'll let y'all know.

I'm sure I'll bore y'all to pieces with puppy stories. *Laugh*

Have a gorgeous day y'all!

Please bore us with puppy stories. Pretty please. "Pretty" would be a better name than Bitsy... imho.
YAY! I told you it would happen when it was supposed to happen! I am very happy for you.
omg, that’s wonderful! Sending big hugs and best wishes for you and your adorable new puppy *Hug1**Smile**Hug2* *HeartB* I’d love to see all of your puppy stories and pics as I draw One Step Closer to the White Queen *Smile* *Crown1*
It's Friday at the little library!

Book club is meeting and the ladies are getting rowdy!

So tomorrow, my best friend and I are going to the shelter to see if I meet a new dog to love. The fees are waived through the weekend and I have a few that I want to meet. Hopefully they'll still be there tomorrow. Small dogs tend to be adopted quickly. I'm still hurting mightily over losing Maks but the emptiness in the house is too much. No dog will ever replace him, or Hershey, just add a new chapter to my dog kids.
One of the board members lost his senior dog right before I lost Maks. He has dog supplies that he is giving to me. I'm grateful to him.

Have a beautiful day, and weekend y'all!

No, no dog can replace Maks, but that doesn't mean you can't find a dog that can be special in his or her own way. Good luck in your search! When we went through this last summer (we had lost three of our four dogs within a month!) we went to the local Humane Society, but they had no small dogs. I hope you have better luck! We ended up adopting through a small rescue group, but the adoption fee can be steep.
It's the first day of spring at the little library!*FlowerV*

I'm doing a little better. I dog sat for 10 days and the snuggles helped so much! I've kinda been looking for a new furbaby. It's so hard going home to an empty house. I keep looking for Maks and almost filled his water dish last night. The right dog will come along when it's supposed to. I have off and on pet sitting gigs until at least the 3rd week of July.

I did splurge on something I've wanted for awhile. It's a vintage looking stereo that plays albums, CDs, and cassettes. Oh, and it has am/fm radio. I had one on my wish list on my fave mail order place. $150 However, a local shop had one, brand new, for $65! It has a remote and wireless headphones. I've listened to the radio but haven't messed with it beyond that. I have 3 large crate of albums, a crate of 45s, and several crates of CDs.

The lawn folks are outside doing their thing. It smells like spring! It'll be nice not to have to wade through weeds.

Y'all have a gorgeous day!

I love fresh mown grass.
Wow, it is the first day of spring. I hadn't even noticed, but then our spring like weather ended over the weekend, it's cold, blustery, and we may have our first real snow storm move through on Thursday.
How are you doing? Missed your posts. Hope you are adjusting well. I know it's hard when a fur baby passes. It's worst when it is sudden.
It's Wednesday afternoon at the little library!

While last weekend was nice, this week has not been kind. My sweet little Maks crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Monday morning. It was sudden. I'm in shock and grief and struggling. I haven't been without a dog in my life for over 30 years. When the right one comes along, I will have another furbaby to love.

I've got a bad case of the "don't wannas."

It's a beautiful, sunny day here today. We do have a chance of severe weather the next day or so. I welcome the distraction.

Sorry to your loss. If it is any consolation it was sudden, he didn't linger.I'm sure he knew that was best for you, his beloved owner.
So sorry for your loss. *Hug1**Frown**Hug2*
Sorry For Your Loss
Happy Friday from the little library!

Yesterday it was cold! I drove home through a heavy thundersleet storm. It was crazy!
Today, by contrast, is warming and the sun is burning off the clouds.

It's potluck day at the library! We are always invited to make a plate. We have some great cooks in this little town! And someone brings an amazing banana pudding. Yummers!

I'm ready for a nice, quiet weekend. In the morning, I'm running out to a yard sale at a lifelong friend's house, then do a little grocery shopping. I plan to continue working on my little house. There is a youth church group that is taking donations for their annual sale. I have plenty that they can have. I would be happy to see it go to good use.

Have a gorgeous day and weekend y'all!

Damp chill here in Taipei. I go to Bangkok today where it'll be steamy. Oklahoma/Texas weather is exciting but thundersleet sounds a bit much.
Happy Friday Eve from the little library!

It seems I had a typo yesterday. Noted and fixed. *Blush*

It's a cold, rainy day here. I pray the Texas panhandle received some of the moisture. If you aren't aware, there have been several large wildfires burning there. Livestock lost as well as homes destroyed. I have friends there and, so far, they have been okay. Fire is one of my biggest fears and wildfires break my heart. Pray for them.

Today will hopefully be a quiet one. No programs planned.

Y'all have a gorgeous day!
