Thank you for the promoting this!
*Shock2* EEK! Now my Premium Plus email is 90% full! *Sob*

I literally ONLY have Premium Plus because of the size of the inbox. *Facepalm* I don't even know what else that membership can do except host audio files, which I'll likely never do because, like everyone else, I hate my voice. lol (Take that last bit either way you want. lol)

Doesn't SM understand that I don't have time go through my inbox? I spend too much time doing other WdC activities to spend time on nonsense like clearing out my inbox...or reviewing...or writing. *Whistle* *Think* *Facepalm* *Laugh*

Yes, yes, I could delete my sent mail, but that just delays the inevitable. *Pthb* Since it looks like my inbox is going to get full regardless of what I do (since I know me and I'll likely not get around to clearing it -- yes, this is a current problem in my personal email, too), it looks like I'll just have to quit WdC. ** Shrug** It's the only viable solution. *Angelic* Sure, then my inbox will fill faster, but at least I won't know. *Laugh*

Hey, I could come back as one of those recycled newbies. *Rolling* Of course, to cover my tracks, I'd have to stop using emojis. *Shock2* *Scared* NOPE! NOT WORTH IT! I can't stop using the emojis! *Yikes* I guess I'll have to clean out my inbox...eventually. *Think* *Laugh*

Elycia Lee ☮, if I don't get into my PhD program, I do plan to get a job here and who knows how long I'll stay. Forever isn't that long when you're happy. *Delight*

Thank you, Massive Friendly Derg, yeah, I've been down that road quite a few times. Annoyingly, a lot of the biggest ones are things I hate to get rid. *Pthb*

Anni Pon, I can set up AUTO-SORT for my emails?!? *Shock2* *Delight* THAT sounds like something I need to do! Of course, that just means I'll have to check 14 folders whenever I check my emails, but yes, I think it will make deleting much easier. Though I do tend to delete the ones I don't care about, but still, this might really help...at least, in the future. lol

I don't have too many sentimental emails, {huser:lilli_in_fl). Most of the things in my inbox are either things I need to get around to addressing or things that arrived when I was either too depressed or too overwhelmed to deal with. So, yeah, if that tells you anything about how my mental health has been (mostly in the past) and how very far behind I am in the things I need or want to do around here... *Think* *Yikes* *Facepalm* *Laugh*

Jaeramee of the Free Folk - OMG! The only way that could be funnier would be if it wasn't quite so true. *Rolling* I love that I can get MBs and emails, but I can't write. Well, that is almost how much I write, though I do (finally) have a new item open. *Delight* Thank you for the laugh and the wonderful price. Can I pay that in GPs? *Laugh*

What do I do to procrastinate? I scroll through this Newsfeed seeking entertainment, amusement, stuff to grace with a comment. Oh, and I dabble in entering the Quickie Newsfeed contests.. Why says it can't be fun?
Serious: I decide I need to go get a drink of water.

Funny: I can't right now, I'm busy building a bird powered catapult.
s
1) What do I do to procrastinate? Well, it's simple - I read. "Just one more chapter," I tell myself, while the writing I know I want to do sits unloved, while the work I have to get done is ignored, while the phone calls I have to make leave people in the lurch. Books - bane of my existence... and I wouldn't have it any other way.

2) Some may call it procrastination, but I call it vital - I check the PengWeb pages to see what those nefarious, feathered b*st*rds are up to now. I take notes on their plans - hidden in codes only those enlightened like me can interpret - and then write down detailed and not at all convoluted plans of my own to counteract them, though I have not yet had the chance to get my army of well-trained and obscenely happy quokkas to battle them with frickin' lasers.
So, weird question...

Does anyone have the 2022 version of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders (DSM-5-TR)? *Geek*

I need to know what page the diagnostic criteria for Functional Neurological Symptom Disorder is on. I got quotes out of a bootlegged version online, but obviously, I can't cite a bootlegged version for my paper I'm turning in for my PhD application. *Rolling* (Plus, the bootlegged version had a different number of pages from the book version, so I wouldn't trust the accuracy, anyway. *Think*)

I already tried to get it on Amazon Kindle, but either it doesn't exist (probably because folks are posting bootlegged versions online lol) or it's not accessible in the Falklands. I can only get the physical book. *Pthb*

Again, thank you so much, Jim Hall - GoT Forest Child!

While this isn't helpful for my paper because it's just the updates since the 2022 version was published and there's not been an update to the diagnosis I'm research since the 2022 version was published, but that is good to know.

More importantly (not for my paper) and why I'm SUPER happy you posted this, I had no idea that they regularly put out supplemental updates! *Shock2* I knew they put out a whole new text every 10 or so years, but didn't know you could go look on the psychiatry.org website and get updates in between the major revisions! *Idea* That's super helpful for me and my future practice, though not helpful for the paper. *Think*

I REALLY appreciate this and plan to post a link to it to my LinkedIn (where I like to pretend I'm a professional lol). *Delight*
Could try checking online university catalogues.

For example, the library of King's College London has it. May be worth contacting such a library (or preferably one closer to you) and asking a friendly librarian if they can look up the relevant passages. *Smile*
Bilal Latif - Thank you for that suggestion! I'm quite surprised a school in London has it. *Think* Anyway, that is a good way to try to get around the problem, if I can't get the answer from a friend. I had 2 friends who told me they'd get me the page number today. Then I haven't heard from either since this morning. *Facepalm* Anyway, thank you for the Plan B. *Bigsmile*

Writer_Mike - love your reference!
I can help with the plutonium, Writer_Mike, but I have to say, the price of flux capacitor-equipped DeLoreans has been insane ever since COVID. IDK why, but the price makes the housing market look like the price of bubble gum. *Yikes*

Schnujo is Late to Lannister - Coming from someone normally housed in SoCal, that's saying something. *Shock2*
Have you always wanted to be a beta reader,* but didn't know where to start? *Confused*

Well, s is offering just that opportunity! *Delight*

"Note: Looking for BETA readers. This is just a free pl..."

Will you gain fame and fortune from this? *Camera* *Gold*
Probably not. *Think*

But s will appreciate your feedback and you'll get to be one of the very first people ever to read his newest novel he'll be sending out for publication this summer, so that's even better than fame and fortune! *Delight*

* Beta readers read things when the writer thinks they are done and then give feedback about their experience and any suggestions/questions/concerns they have about what they read. It's basically an in-depth review. *Smile*

FYI, alpha readers give feedback after a first/rough draft to ensure the writer is going in the right direction before they put days/weeks/months of editing work into a story that was going in the wrong direction to begin with. *Yikes* These readers usually don't give so much detailed, technical advice/suggestions since it's still a rough draft, but they are invaluable to a writer and many of us do that here without even knowing because we often read 1st drafts when we are reviewing. *Smile*

Author Resources

I got this from Alwin Gnanaraj Aruldhas, one of the admins on the Writers & Authors group on LinkedIn. (I copied his post from there.) I can't officially vouch for the links (since I can't get my act together long enough to finish a project), but would assume this info is relatively safe and accurate, given his position there. I did check and change all the inks so they aren't redirecting you from the LinkedIn notification page that says you're leaving LinkedIn. *Laugh* And yes, as I sometimes do, I'm saving my own post. *Rolling* I didn't find a website, but found a Fb and Insta for Authors Paradise.

I can understand. But it was in black and white. Maybe if they'd used crayons for color, it would look more recognizable. *Bigsmile*
I've seen this video but it's still fun to watch. I like the guy who's using a flute his great grandfather gave him to ward off the leprechaun.
Scarypotato-doing bettertoday - Yes, and that flute that's "thousands of years old" looks remarkably like pipe fittings you can get in Home Depot. Impressive how advanced people were so long ago. *Geek* And if you do the math with his "great, great grandfather" giving him that flute, they have some SERIOUS longevity in their family! *Calculator*

If you're looking to share your mental health stories, but don't want to be identified, ChoosingTherapy.com is looking for people to write anonymous stories about their mental health struggles and/or successes.

Note: This doesn't pay, but you may find it cathartic and others may find your struggle encouraging or useful to their own situation. *Wink*

Right now, they especially want stories on...

- Anxiety
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Depression
- Grief & Loss
- Narcissistic Abuse
- Starting Medication

They also accept stories on other mental health topics and I assume they rotate the ones they're looking for right now, so check back regularly if you specifically want to write for what they're currently looking for.

Note: These are supposed to be your true stories, not something fictionalized. They will work to make you unidentifiable, in case you accidentally slip in something that shows your identity.

Maybe I'm the only one who didn't already know this, but I always thought A4 paper was the same as regular printer paper in the US.

Nope.

8.5 x 11 inches   *Left*   US paper size
8.3 x 11.7 inches   *Left*   A4 (the rest of the world) paper size

I thought all "normal" printer paper was the same size around the world. *Blush* I've regularly selected A4-sized stuff on my printer in the US, not knowing better.

Am I the only one who didn't know this? *Confused*

Schnujo is Late to Lannister - Sorry, Jody. Apparently, I missed. Stupid funny makes me laugh, and the laughter helps me to remember.

I wasn't going for confusion. So sorry. My BAD.
Jay O'Toole - No worries. I'm so fried between my paper and the lack of sleep. *Pthb* As they say, it's me, not you. *Heart*
IDK Why I Haven't Shared Them Before. *FacePalm*

https://selfpublishingtitans.com/shop

I've been following these guys for several years now.

Technically, that's the shop link, but they also have a YouTube channel, Facebook group and more. They do tend to focus more on medium content books like coloring books and puzzle books, but some of their products work for novels and nonfiction, too.

You can find niches to write for where people are searching for books, but they aren't finding a lot of results and you can even scope out the competition. *Sly* They're working on a tool to help with backend keywords for Amazon, but that's not ready yet. They also have a tool to help you find things to sell for Etsy, in case anyone is doing that. *Think* There's lots of other stuff and they're super nice. *Delight*

Give them a look. Even if coloring books and puzzle books aren't your thing, you might want to consider pairing an adult coloring book with your novel or a puzzle book with your nonfiction work to increase interest and sales. *Bigsmile*

BTW, they mentioned today that bundles will soon be changing and prices will be going up, so definitely give them a look! I think I literally own every single tool they offer because I'm on their email list and get a deep discount for everything when it first comes out. *Party*

I love spending time looking through the niches on Amazon to find things to write for, even though I probably never will get around to it. *Laugh* It's just super fun to me *Rolling*

One of the things I've been learning about being an author is how you need to be a brand and market yourself and have a website, etc. (Sounds like a lot of work to me. Luckily, I'm too lazy to get that far. *Laugh*) Anyway, if you decide to do that, it could be fun to post (with permission, of course) examples of what others have done with the prompts. *Bigsmile*
Schnujo is Late to Lannister - Before I get a brand, I need to get over my desire to hide my message first. I used to write fairly well, but then I decided it wasn't good enough and I've been almost wanting to defenestrate myself.

The gatekeeping instinct is the first gatekeeper. LOL.

But showing other's clips would be powerful marketing. If others are writing to them, then people are reading them, and if others find them worth reading then I will too. *Wink*

Not literally me, since I wrote them.
Joto-Kai - Yes, testimonials are really powerful, so I think if you can even step that up and show what people are doing, even better. *Bigsmile* You can try running them here as a contest, letting folks know that if they win, they may end up on your website. I bet you'll get some entries. *Delight*

The GPs are on their way, Massive Friendly Derg. Thank you for the MB!
Want a Quick and Easy 15k GPs?

Send me a MB. *Bigsmile*

As always, they must count for CRs. That means you haven't given me a MB in the last 7 days and you don't see a red warning on the final confirmation page before you officially send it. If you've recently sent me a MB, yes, you can wait a few days for CRs to reset and send me another. Just be sure to remind me that that's why you're sending it late when I thank you. *Wink*

Why are you sending me a MB? Well, it's a pick-me-up given how things have gone this week.

1. Wrote a paper for my PhD application discussing how untreated sleep apnea causes brain damage which causes mental health problems and using a CPAP can improve the mental health problems and repair some (though possibly never all) of the brain damage.

2. After submitting my paper, I was told it wasn't mental health-y enough and to write a new paper. *Yikes* I'm now writing about psychogenic nonepileptic seizures (formerly called pseudoseizures) and how they arise from too much stress. I realize I may have to write a 3rd paper if they don't like this one. *Think* *Facepalm*

3. One of my closest friends left the Falkland Islands this week to go back to England and I may never see him again, though he did invite me to visit, so... *Sly* But still, I miss him.

4. I though my 6 months was up May 3. My Air BnB is up May 3. My 6-month visa is up April 27, according to immigration. *Shock* *Yikes* So, I have to make a quick application to extend, including getting an extension on my insurance, etc. I'd planned to extend anyway, but though I had more time to do it.

5. I'm going to Easter Island May 18 and realized I may not have a multiple-entry visa in the Falklands. So, I may not be able to return after Easter Island. *Sob*

6. I'd decided to stay in the Falkland Islands until May 2025 because I just love it SO MUCH, but immigration told me I can't stay more than 9 months in every 12. *Shock2* I had no idea! *Sob* BUT I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE!!! *Sob* *Sob* *Sob* So, even if I can return after Easter Island I'll be leaving in July/August anyway. *Cry*

7. I checked. I qualify for no open jobs ATM. *Angelic*

8. More, but out of space here.

MBs welcome!
