A poem about a person whose thoughts of themselves are not happy about themselves.
I once captured a wish.
Wispy and light,
floating on a breeze.
I put it in a cardboard box,
and fed it everyday:
Sunlight, laughter,
Optimism and truth.
And, soon, I was the proud owner
of a dream.
I put it in a bigger box
punched with a few holes.
Gave it everything it needed:
treats of love and caring,
and took it out everyday
to show it what could be done in the world.
It grew and grew.
It was brave and strong.
It challenged the world and
Won.
No longer in a box
I found,
I was the proud owner of
Myself.
