Rise and shine,
My dreamy mind bellowed
As I absentmindedly reached
For the snooze button on my alarm clock
Only to realize, dazedly,
That I hadn't set it in the first place
It is the Lord's Day after all...
Nothing but nothing to do today

My stomach grumbled a final plea
As I got up and walked to the window
Clouds, and gray, and leaves lightly swaying
Man, it's going to be cold out there

Quickly dressed, and armed with Stephen King
I headed out the back door
A brisk walk through the alleyway
Thirty-nine degrees and a crisp wind
Greet my unexpecting morning face
My quivering lips anticipating
That first cup of Joe
