A brief muse on a gothic theme.-UNFINISHED, so mind your criticism, thanks! ;-)
Canvas wings spread
to catch the cool autumn breeze.
Mares' tails fled.

On the shore, hand to brow,
she watched his departure.
Rainbows dashed from the prow.

Autumn succumbed to numbing winter.
The ocean roared in murderous fury,
she dreamt the ship was a forlorn splinter.

Winter sighed under spring's caresses,
Trees let down their soft green tresses.

No captain returned.
The maiden's heart burned
her frail mortality into a cinder.
