I wrote this poem, asking myself "what does silence sound like?"
Night closes in
Deep silence falls
Stars spring to life
The darkness calls

A deep pine forest
Dark green leaves
Whispers oh so softly
The air itself breathes

Crickets start to sing
Night creatures wake
But their noise can't shatter
A silence that won't break

Not silence of the ears
It goes deeper still
Silence of the soul and mind
That doesn't drain, it fills

Fills the night with peace
A deep, resonating kind
A calming of the soul
A stilling of the mind
